aka Courtney Love has managed to squander all the remaining millions from Kurts will and her sale of half his catalog to Martha Stewart, now needs more money and is releasing/rereleasing stuff everyone already has, with one bonus track nobodys 'ever heard' but tons of people have actually.

So the "news" is that there is no news yet?

It's got to be a 20th anniversary reissue of Nevermind. There's nothing else that even remotely makes sense.

I think it should be a $20 bill in place of the $1 bill.

Joking aside, I was pretty happy with the Bleach reissue. If Nevermind is done as well, I'd buy it.

That would be very cool. I'm betting you guys are right... Although there are a couple concert dvd's they could still put out at some point too.

20th ANNIVERSARY OF NIRVANA’S “NEVERMIND” ALBUM CELEBRATED WITH A DELUXE EDITION IN SEPTEMBER

Nirvana, the trio comprised of Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl, hailed originally from a coastal fishing town in Washington and rose to become one of the most influential rock bands in history with irreverence, intense honesty and an overriding passion. The cultural shift Nirvana’s Nevermind initiated was felt instantly on release -- and the profundity and depth of that shift becomes even more apparent when seen through the prism of the two decades of art and music created in its wake.

Released in September of 1991, Nirvana’s Nevermind garnered near-unanimous praise and rose within a few months to the No. 1 slot on Billboard’s U.S. sales chart. Nevermind was propelled to No. 1 across the globe by their young fans worldwide that identified with the band and embraced their anthem "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and its landmark music video. Since then, it has sold more than 30 million albums.

Nirvana changed the course of popular music forever and remains an inspiration to those who have followed.

Today, Universal Music Enterprises is pleased to announce the 4-CD/1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition of Nirvana’s Nevermind available September 19, 2011, in the U.K. and September 20, 2011, in North America. The CDs will include previously unreleased recordings, rarities, b-sides, BBC radio appearances, alternative mixes, rare live recordings and an unreleased concert in its entirety on DVD.

The 20th anniversary of Nirvana will be marked throughout the year, with various events and releases.

4CDs sounds rather exciting, I'm cautiously optimistic this might actually be pretty good.

I thought "With the Lights Out" pretty much emptied the vaults. No?

4 CDs???!!! Holy shit! The DVD is "Live at the Paramount Theatre, Halloween 1991". Apparently the director of the film posted on FB about the release.

I think I posted this in the Foo Fighters Wasting Light thread, but did you guys hear that Dave, Krist and Pat rehearsed Smells Like Teen Spirit a few months back? Foo Fighters were playing secret gigs in LA prior to the album release so Dave booked a studio for them to rehearse as Krist was going to do a guest spot at one of the shows. So they ran through what they were gonna do, and then Krist said Fuck it, let's play Teen Spirit. And they did. The only person in the know was the tech running the studio who I imagine was pretty shocked to hear it.

I'd be interested in alternate takes of the songs, improvs in the studio, jams, stuff like that if there are any left from the album, but this whole thing sounds like Courtney's out of money.

And there's also this from a few years back:

Not really.

That release was a monumental fuck-up on every level.

I hope for once the Nirvana camp actually got this one right.

Possibilities for inclusion: Vig's original Nevermind mixes, unreleased outtakes from the sessions, the relevant b-sides, the 1990 Smart Studios demos, the BBC sessions from 1990 and 1991, the barnyard rehearsal tapes. Lots of good stuff, though some of it previously released - 4CDs seems to give plenty of scope for some great stuff.
