I've only seen him without the old guys, and he is fan-fucking-tastic live. Solo or with his new bass player/drummer.

I like his new studio stuff, too.

The old BFF stuff is great, but I could take or leave a reunion.

I've seen Ben Folds Five, Ben Folds just solo, and Ben Folds on his tour last spring that was with a band.

I thought the Ben Folds Five show was the worst of the 3. It still rocked, but I thought they others were tighter.

He playd at my school about a year ago, amazing show, but daren and robert really added alot of energy to the music, which he still has live, but on record hes slowing down a bit.

New album coming out next week, for those who don't know.

It's a pretty sweet little album. A bit more Messner than Whatever. But I like it. I think I was expecting more energy and humor. More whimsy and noise. But it's a pretty mature record. Fits in nicely on their trajectory.

Like most of Ben's stuff, I think it'll grow on me even more as I continue to listen to it. But I'd recommend picking it up if you've been a fan of their stuff in the past.
