If anybody here is a Knopfler fan or a fan of Dire Straits you'll probably enjoy this concert. It's very high quality and an hour long. His playing is fantastic (love his volume swells) and he talks about most of the songs as well as guitar playing in general before he plays them. All around fantastic if you ask me.
Without further ado

I'm lukewarm on Dire Straits but Knopfler's solo albums from 2000 on are mostly all fantastic. A criminally underrated songwriter and duly praised guitarist. Looking forward to the new album this fall.

Not a problem my man. To everyone else checking this out, even if your not a huge fan of Mark you should give this a chance. He talks about his guitars, his approach to playing and the backing band is phenomonal. Grab a beer or two, a joint or even a glass of water and take an hour to watch one of the greats.
Kevin is right, the guy is a criminally underrated songwriter.

Awesome man. I've never seen Bob live but from what I heard you it's better to go to his show without expecatations. I've been told his shows are all over the place depending on what he feels like playing and how he feels like playing it. I'd love to see the guy just for that reason! I hope you have a good time!

You guys would probably enjoy A Song for Sonny at the 36:25 mark. It's Marks telling of the tragic life of Sonny Liston, heavyweight champ and all around badass who had a hard life. His year of birth was never known and the circumstances surrounding his early death are the things of mystery. Great song.

It'd be killer if Mark came out and played with him. Even if it was Slow Train Coming stuff.
I saw Mark at Red Rocks a few years back. Well, maybe more than a few...it was the Sailing to Phil tour. Great show. I really like Dire Straits records. Love Over Gold is a killer record.

porchball that's great video, I've seen it a few years ago but had nearly forgotten about it, thanks! Chet was such a fantastic player, everything he played was strong and without hesitation.
I really enjoyed your cover of Don't Think Twice. Nice playing and good singing. I think I'm going to submit something for that thread.
