what the hell jukebox do you get 4 plays for a buck?? in the places i go, you get two and if the song isnt on the juke and you have to dl it, you pay a buck a song..

as for etiquette, if i put in the money ill play whatever the hell i want, if the rest of the bar doesnt like it, tough shit they can put in their own money n play pitbull or luke bryan or whatever top 40 songs they like

sometimes if im in a giving mood ill ask ppl who they wanna hear n pick a song i like by that artist

Did you know that the bartenders sometimes have the power to veto a pick that you play? Well, they do. When I was younger, I carelessly selected a few songs with the same attitude that you have just described, and I quickly found out what happens if you don't practice good jukebox etiquette. Two songs in, my set got the plug pulled on it...right when Pink Foyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" started that spacey middle section. Don't be that guy, bugs.

one time a bartender vetoed my stuff n all drunk n pissed off i said either i get my money back or you pour me a free beer.. pretty sure i got the free beer

once i went to this hick bar n all i heard was country.. so i put in $$ and played wu tang triumph.. in triumph every member of the clan raps n its like 7 mins or somethin.. some big redneck in a cowboy hat actually walked up n ripped the power cord outta the wall halfway thru.. i didnt say anythin cuz i wasnt fuckin with that guy

I love your bar stories. More please!
Did you ever knife a guy or bang some "methed-out" chick in the bathroom? Or both in the same night?

Bugs, care to walk us through the setlist of what you consider to be your biggest jukebox triumph?

never knifed anyone but im sure i had my share of methheads in the bathroom, altho im thinkin theyre into bath salts these days

im thinkin of shit id play.. umm.. lemme think of the other night

ocms - wagon wheel
pj - crown of thorns (rare one credit pj play thats not a huge hit)
nirvana - lounge act, lake of fire, or plateau if i feel like droppin 2 credits
crowes - wiser time
stp - big empty
dead - shakedown st/fire on the mtn
dmb - big eyed fish or warehouse
seger - night moves, turn the page, against the wind, or hollywood nights
stones - dead flowers/cant you hear me knockin/tumblin dice (latter 2 are 1 credit plays so prob one of them, but df is so good its worth the buck)
america - sister golden hair
csn - southern cross
probably a zep and metallica song - so many for 1 credit
blind melon - skinned
moe - plane crash
petty - its good to be king or you got lucky
j johnson - constellations
neil young - down by the river or ritfw

if i play a rap song itll prob be some random old school song.. if new probably kanye mercy or niggaz in paris.. no drake because lord knows my friends will play a ton of him.. maybe tyga faded or rack city cuz theyre great

also it pisses me off big time that theres no tool on any jukebox ever.. so sometimes if we wanna hear maynard ill play passenger

its great cuz the one bar i go to has this live dead cd in it and help on the way > slipknot > franklins tower altogether is a one credit play.. its like 20some minutes long but that place has a huge dead following that hangs there so its cool

Bitches Brew nets you like 45 minutes of music for like two songs.

Oh, and you know how there are dog whistles that only they can hear and it drives them nuts. The same thing is true with white folks and Rick James. If you ever want to clear the bar of assholes, play Fire and Desire and watch the douchebags settle up and go home.

reid I mean no offence, but threads like this(the opening post in particular), contain sentiments so precious that they have to be interpreted as kitsch. Is irony the only thing enabling you to deal with the world at this point or what? I just don't get it.

Jukeboxes around the world could do with much more Rick James and James Brown, and much less AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix.

There's not a trace of irony in this thread, but I'm curious to know what about the header post contains such perceived precious sentiment.

Anyone who plays any song by Bon Jovi, Bob Seger or John Cougar Mellencamp in my presence gets a knife to the face.

Is that really the type of conversation that you overhear if you play pink floyd on the jukebox, bugs?

I like to play Floyd's Pigs 3, into Wire's Pink Flag, and Crosby's Cowboy Movie.

Doors LA Woman is my favorite to play at a bar.

You could just sit back and watch everybody self-wind themselves up.

Plus it's a long one. You get your nickel's worth.

oh, that and "for the benefit of mr. kite"
