I've got a couple of friends who got the iphone app for those jukeboxes hooked to the internet. Apparently, you can pay extra to skip over someone paying directly into the machine, and they kept fucking with a guy. They'd play the complete opposite of what he was trying to play. He had no idea why the jukebox never played his shit and kept yelling at the bartender that the jukebox stole his money.

Very rude, but extremely entertaining.

Vivaldi.

Rites of Spring.

330am (or 20 minutes to closing, whatever is applicable)

Watch what ensues.

A true jukebox pro wouldn't be fazed by something like that, IHRM. You've got to walk away from that juke feeling cool as a cucumber, no matter what plays next.

I wish I had that capability. I'm too self-conscious. If I was a jukebox pro, I would have waited until a good song came on and then immeadiately went to the box using that four minute window.

So you're okay taking credit for somebody else's selection as long as it makes you look good, eh?

Jukebox Etiquette Tip #40: When somebody puts in $5 but only plays $2 of that balance and invites others to pick out the rest, it's good manners and good karma to put a couple more dollars in and keep that baby well stocked with credits. Pay it forward, people.

Depends. I will If I know who put it in, like the waitstaff or something. I'd leave ask if they want to hear anything in particular then proceed to go to town.

It's definitely good manners to ask the person that left the money in if they want to hear anything in particular, but I also like the idea of leaving money in the machine and wanting to be surprised. Though if I'm going to do that, it's only after I've properly discerned that my fellow barflys seem like they'd be on the same page as me, music-wise. I'm not sure I'd leave a dollar in the juke at IGB's favorite bar.

My favorite neighborhood bar still has a jukebox stocked with physical music. Recently, it came up that the owner wants to switch out five of the albums and let the patrons decide which ones stay, which ones go, and what the five new titles are going to be. It's the perfect opportunity to rectify the lack of Tom Waits in that bar.
