Great article on the wave of adult superstores popping up through rural America.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=s ... nymore&e=4

What do you think of these stores? I side with the guy who says at the end, "If you don't like it, don't come in." As long as the proprietors are keeping minors out, why not? I grew up in Vegas, and the sex shops there were all kind of seedy, dark, and gross. These new shops (we have Castle Superstore here in Medford) are breaking that trend. It will be interesting to see how the various court cases play out.

I got no problem with them. Even though I didn't grow up in G-rated Kansas.

Yes you would. A girl in my town that worked in one did. She was going to her car after her shift and one of the "cool" people that hung out in the peep machines grabbed her, threw her into his truck and raped her.

You see, not everyone that frequents these places is "cool". I know, rapists go into all types of stores, but these stores feed that side of them.

I'm not against these stores at all, but really, any young female that volunteers to work at one just isn't thinking.

Duhhh, I didn't say everyone was cool, and I wasn't applying tomorrow. I wouldn't work in ANY store that left me there alone. That shit could happen anywhere.

I was walking into the local porn store recently and a transvestite came strolling out, sporting high heals and a 5 o'clock shadow. My lady friend goes, "Oh my god, it's a DUDE!" and the she-man gave her a dirty look. It was pretty funny. This particular store is located in a very well-to-do community, the last place you'd expect a porn store, nevermind a transvestite.

Personally, I'm for it. No one should be afraid of sex.

Porn on crack. Let's try to keep our "social problems" straight.

Anyhow, I don't really see a problem with these types of stores. There's one that's located less than five minutes away from my former high school, and while I'm slightly concerned that it might not be entirely legal for it to be there, (I think there are zoning stautes that specify that adult stores must be a certain distance from schools and perhaps churches) I don't care that its there. It doesn't bother me. The large, red and white sign with the flashing lights around "Adult Shop" don't bother me. And the fact that its located next to "Tractor Supply" makes me laugh almost every time I dive past it.

If you don't like that its there, don't go in. If you don't like that its there, don't purchase a house next to it. If you don't like that its there, pull your head out of your ass and start attending your city council meetings where they discussed the proposed changes in zoning, which it would seem occured in every one of these instances. Restaurants and farm land aren't generally zoned for commercial properties. Go to the city council meetings and protest there the next time one of these establishments wants to move into your town.

There's a really nice, fancy sex shop donwtown. It's called "Pleasures of the Heart" and it's very tasteful. I like going in there to look at the lingere and play with the vibrators.

Well I did grow up in G-rated Kansas...and I've made the trip from Kansas City to St. Louis and back many times...never having stopped at these flea bag stores...and I think this is very sad. Talk about filth. Porn destroys peoples lives the same way alchohol and drugs can...and that's the truth.

Wait, did I see you in 'Debbie does KC?' Because I could swear someone said the exact same thing in that flick...
