Breath: an't expect to go out with anything more....oh reach for the door.....life ain't what it's worth....i suggest you step out on your porch....there's so much more than this
Ledbetter: unsealed, on a porch a letter sat....mumbled lyrics, but basically about departure
Porch: what the fuck is this world running to, you didn't leave a message....initiatives are taken up by the middle........never touch you, hold you, ever, in my arms, ever again.
alienation, departure, lost love (familial or sexual), middle class voting in a president who sends the lower class kids to war. curious about things along those lines. they all seem relevant, i'm just not exactly sure the plot line running through the three

Here's my take on Yellow Ledbetter.
I took it as a song about a kid named Ledbetter who's chicken (yellow) and won't or doesn't want to go to war. He doesn't know if he's gonna come home in a box or a body bag. His family's on the porch and they don't wave to him as he either head off to war or leaves for Canada. Not sure about that part. The unsealed letter could be something about to be sent or an opened draft notice, not sure.
Then again there's a blues artist named Huddie (leadbelly) Ledbetter that spent time in prison and had a pretty unusual life

the unsealed letter could be his official call to arms, read and dropped by the porch. the Leadbelly reference is hilarious, i confess it crossed my mind! briefly!

i think the family is on the porch and its the letter they get saying he has died in combat......i forget the name of the letter you get.....on a beach of weathered sand which is desert like desert storm
Ledbetter is actually the last name of a friend or aquantice of Eddie. And I don't really think that the lyrics have a huge meaning, 'cause they play it different at every concert, with different lyrics and stuff. Eddie have said that it don't really have a text. He just makes it up as he goes.
