We're studying some of his theories in my theory of knowledge class, so I wanted to know if anyone has ever heard of him or is familiar with his work.

His basic theory is that there were advanced beings on Earth before there were human beings, and that when the ancient cultures referred to "gods" they were referring to these large human-like beings who had intelligence far and beyond what we have now and who are responsible for culture.

It's far more complex than that, but what really interests me is the implications of the theory in the context of religion. These beings, referred to as the Annaniki, are said to have been created by one god, but that groups of them created humans to worship them. Therefore, when a religion worships a god, technically, they're all worshiping their own Annaniki...making them all correct.

Far out and spacy, but really interesting.
