Sick of fucking hearing of 'im. There, I finally said it.

Hey, who gives a shit who's in first place? Tiger grabs the big bold front-of-sportspage headline and his ugly mug is plastered on Yahoo's site no matter how good or bad he actually does in whatever game he plays in. This shit is getting to be a million times worse than all the Kobe Bryant or A-Rod or T.O. stories combined.

Vijay could take this Master's with a hole-in-one miracle shot carried to the hole via the golden chariot of Jesus Christ Himself, and the headlining story would talk in vivid detail about Tiger's absolutely normal even-par eventless performance instead. They'd talk about the massive shit he'd take after he finished more than they would about the tournament winner.

I could give two shits about golf; watching it is as entertaining as having the phone book read to you, but I am absolutely sick of Tiger Woods. Does anyone remember golf before he showed up?

yeah, I do. It lacked stars, changing his swing and coming back to the field was the best thing ever for golf, now there are 5 or 6 of the top 10 in the world that can win every week.

I wouldn't call it uneventful that eagle on 14 was the first in 70 years on a par 4 at the masters. The second was today when Chris Dimarco finished a pathetic effort in the tournament with an eagle on 18. Tiger had no business finishing with a 72 yesterday.

Tiger is simply a victim of success in your case, the guy is a hell of a golfer, but he's over exposed (good for his wallet, bad for people like you)

I detest following him around, but my buddies love it.

My favorite golfer is Jack, but I like Tiger. I just have no desire to hear everything about his freaking life or follow him around the golf course going "hey Tiger, go tiger, you the man, it's in the hole. Este Hombre, or any of the other idiotic gallery offerings in his crowd.

He is still head and shoulders above anyone else in this generation. We lack a solid core, like the Palmer, Nicklaus, Player, and so on and so forth crowd that could win multiple majors. Tiger is Jack without really any equal, that's why he gets so much pub. The guy has what 10 majors now? at 31? That's unreal. It's Jordanesque. That's why he's essentially annoying I guess because he wins all the time and some people hate that.

Other than that, Tiger personality wise is simply Vanilla Ice Cream. Kind of boringly good not really gravitating other than the exceptional golf game. His fans (like Dave Matthews Band's) are more annoying than he is really but I can't imagine any less so than say arnies army.

I understand where you're coming from, however, as an avid golfer who breathes, eats and drinks it I feel a bit differently...Until Tiger came onto the tour, if a guy won 2 tournaments a year he would be crowned golfer of the year in a landslide..He has completely changed the game of golf..everyone had to raise their game to compete..He's made more money for TV stations that show golf than they could ever imagine..Its good for the game..It was long overdue for a guy to come around and just beat the hell out of people when he's playing well....Its got to the point, in which you are describing, that even when he does poorly, people only tune into see what tiger did...I dont see that as a bad thing...You can always turn the channel like they always say..Thats what I do when Basketball highlights come on

I totally agree. Speaking of Basketball, hopefully Lebron James will not disapoint for that sport.

in all honesty, Lebron could walk into my apartment right now and would not recognize him...

One more thing I wanted to address that I forgot..I also dont care to know what he does off the golf course..I respect that he allows no one to come into his house with a camera...Its admirable to have a high profile athlete for once that actually enjoys his privacy and wont let anyone in..

If you don't care two shits about golf, why did you take the time to write this?

The reason he is so popular is because he is the best golfer in the world and will probably end up being the best golfer ever.

Because he gives two shits about the sports news crammed down his throat. Hearing news about Tiger Woods is the rare case where you don't ever have to follow golf to hear about it.

I agree that NOWADAYS, it's annoying. Tiger revolutionized golf and has done so much for the game that it's crazy. But when you have to hear about him at every tourney, even when he isn't winning all that much anymore (compared to when he used to), is pretty annoying.

But there have been plenty of stories in golf over the past 6 years that haven't involved Tiger.

Quite ironic that starting this thread increases the exposure level of Tiger Woods even more.

Tiger Woods gets a lot of coverage because whenever there is a major tournament the average golf fan usually asks "How did Tiger do today?"

thanks for bringing more attention to the greatest golfer alive and the guy who has brought golf back on the map.. not sure why you care if you hate golf

and no one remembers golf well at all before Tiger unless you were a diehard because TIGER is the one that made golf what it is today

do you understand how many kids he has introduced to golf and im not talking the white rich country boy kids.. rather kids living in the projects..
he does a WHOLE lot more with his money than MJ ever did/will.. if you would have seen the 60 minutes on Tiger i think you would understand
(i work with jrs from the age of 5-12 so i know this from first hand experience)

Tiger is the sole reason for any good ratings on TV so why would they forget about him??? that makes no sense...

not sure how you can compare him to TO or Kobe.. Kobe basically raped a white girl and TO is just a stupid/greedy xxxx ... yeah Tiger went to Standford and knows how to manage his money

and who should they associate with Golf? Vijah he is just a complete jerk to fans and the media etc..yeah Phil has a feel good story but he cant win enough ..

I grew up watching golf with my dad on the weekends. Not to sound stupid, but I enjoyed that time together with my dad even though I wasn't a golf fan. But after years of watching I became I huge fan. When Tiger first hit the scene the coverage was dominated with him. It wouldn't matter if the leader had a birdy put they would show Tiger. I think that hurt his fan base when he first started because the loyalist grew to resent that.

Now I think most people would say they want to see every shot because you never know what this guy will do. I love to watch him play. You can tell like yesterday when he was finished before coverage started it was just missing something. I think people who scream I'm tired of seeing Tiger is either A) not a golf fan or B) an old school golf fan who misses the days of jack, arni, chi chi, and stadler, etc....

I love the masters week!

next year I hope to make my first one.

yep it was weird watching yesterday without Tiger.. and did USA go back and show every shot? no.. so tiger definately didnt the coverage yesterday

yeah this guy has a bad round and still makes amazing shots.. you have to be a golfer to appreciate what he does

and im not defending him because im a huge fan or anything.. ive actually run into him a couple of times and he was not too friendly so if anything i should be bashing him based on that

i plan on my first masters next year as well.. cant wait.. then Ryder cup in 2008 at vallhalla

Just to clarify, the reason I'm bringing up something about Tiger Woods while at the same time not caring about golf is because, as Parchy said, it's easy to just skip Tiger's picture on Yahoo and on the front of nearly every sports page for a few years, but it's getting ridiculous when his mug is bigger than the news of tornadoes in Tennessee.

I honestly didn't know how big of a deal he was until I read some facts in this thread. It all sounds impressive. But he's top sports news all the time even when he's off ... it is a bigger show than MJ. I'm a bit tired of it.

Yes, I'm sure this thread will tear down new barriers for Tiger.

I like golf. I watch it when I can. I play it. Great game.

But too much press is too much press. I know how revolutionary he was (and is) - truly an amazing golfer.

And I'm sick and tired of seeing his goddamn face. Sure, you can change the channel....only to, lo and behold, come across a tv commercial with guess who? That's right, Tiger Woods.

He's just such a great guy!!!

I was like 12 years old, man.

Like I said, overexposure sucks - it extends way beyond Tiger, especially with today's colossal marketing machines. Anything, no matter how good or revolutionary, can be overexposed. I'm not a fan of it.

*waits for PD to move thread to N&D*

if you want to say he is bigger news than the tornados in TN that really doesn't apply because the Media today covers the most useless story in order to grab viewers

do you remember the wall to wall coverage of the Michael Jackson trial.. i think that had 0 relevance in our lives.. while they could be covering drugs in america or something of relevance

and when i turned on CNN tonight they were covering the tornados and not tiger

really think this is getting blown out of proportion... yes if you log onto espn.com u are going to find something about Tiger but watching SC's coverage the past 2 nights of the masters.. there is not too much about Tiger and he is playing well
