The board seems to be lighting up over Come Back but Last Kiss seems to get universally panned. I think there are similarities between the two, so what's the key to one being bad and one being good?

Maybe because Come Back hasn't been played into oblivion yet. Also, I think it's a much stronger song overall.

i'm kinda shocked at the love for Come Back here too..

it's a really pretty ballad, and maybe PJ's most "true" ballad to date, but if it wasn't for the last minute or so i wouldn't call it great by any means.

at least it's way better than f'n Thumbing My Way or Thin Air though

but yeah, unless it's a set/encore closer or opener, i can see it killing a set pretty good energy-wise.

Angel is the only true PJ ballad.

Yeah, I figured a lot of the reaction was riding on the OMGITLEAKED! factor. It will be interesting to see if everyone is still filling their shorts over it in three or four months.

maybe it's because the earlier leaks were all the rockers, but kinda expected more people to go apeshit over stuff like Severed Hand, Comatose, Life Wasted, etc. over a really slow PJ song (maybe more people love PJ ballads than i assumed, dunno)

i mean i'll admit Come Back is pretty nice, but as far as raw emotion, no way it comes close to anything like Release or Indifference for me.

Not a fan, solace? I like both of those.

It would have to be a closer. It would suck as an opener real bad.

nope, both of them top my list of worst PJ songs (released on albums at least, maybe not considering b-sides/unreleased), along w/ Wishlist

and i meant an encore opener, not first song of the night, yuck ;)

Not to be totally gay, but I'm a 32-year-old man with a wife and kid, mortgage, sensible Japanese car and rather large penis and this song almost made me cry on my way home from work tonigtht. Ed's voice is amazing on this. Then the solo breaks in. Then the sing-a-long at the end. I swear you can hear the heartache in his voice. It's fucking stellar. stellar.

All three of those would be in the top half of my PJ list.

Thumbing My Way lyrically isn't bad, but the melody bores me to no end. same w/ Wishlist. both totally kill a live set for me too.

Thin Air's lyrics are the part i'm not so big on, just way way too cheesy/lovey dovey for my taste, musically it's not bad in spots.

you're talking to someone who WMA is still in my top 10-15 PJ songs ever, lol.

What's going to happen when you actually hear a better than 64kbps rip? :o

Last time I saw them play Wishlist it was with the mirrorball slowly spinning over the audience. It was magic. :nice:
