i watched it last night, i hadnt watched any of the other ones, but this one was good, and the tension between ken and tito is big, i have a hard time seeing them not going at each other durring this but i kinda hope they dont, the show isnt really about them.
ill try to keep up with it.

Early favorite--whoever ISN'T bragging about how they're all that and a bag of chips. Seems like it's the quiet ones who do well. I'm rooting for the deaf guy...kind of hard to take advice from your corner, though.

I have mixed feelings about Tito and Ken. They both can be HUGE dicks, but they both can be pretty damn cool. Tito's comment about winning the first coin toss (something like "Seems like every time Ken and I go up against each other I win.") was assinine and uncalled for, so I was ready to hate him, but then towards his team he's a pretty good guy. I dunno...I would like to see Shamrock win (I thought he had retired after losing to Rich Franklin), but I think he's getting old and Tito will have his way with him. Shamrock in his prime would slaughter Tito, though, I think.

Somebody told me that Royce Gracie's coming back to UFC. Can anyone confirm? That'd be friggin' sweet if true...

Royce Gracie vs Matt Hughes 05/27/2006 PPV

Its the undercard for Arlovski vs Sylvia...

Hughes is going to distroy Gracie... The game has changed so much since Gracie was dominant... He might have changed his style, but Hughes will pick him apart.

I take it the belt is on the line?

I agree, I would give the edge to Hughes, if only because Gracie won't have his gi to choke anyone with, but at least they should air a lot of his old fights on Spike, and that alone makes it worth while for me...

Arlovski vs. Sylvia is this Saturday (4/15), Tito Ortiz is fighting Forrest Griffin on the undercard. I hope Forrest beats the shit out of him.

How has Griffin been getting on?

I saw the first season of Ultimate Fighter and he really impressed me, I also saw his first couple of fights after the ultimate fighter. I've moved house since and don't have access to the channel that shows the UFC over here. :(

Wow! Ross talked MAD SHIT. "I'm gonna smash his head". Said that repeatedly, fuckin breathed it.

Kendall kept his cool IMO. I'm glad he layed the smack down on Ross. Personally, I didn't think he was going to win. He's tall, lanky, doesn't have much muscle. 9 inch height and 5 inch reach advantages probably gave him the upper hand, especially during pinning.

As far a preparation was concerned, Ross trained much harder, hence why I thought the victory was in his favor.

Forrest didn't beat the shit out of him, but he definitely won the fight... and than went on to get robbed of it by mentally-handicapped judges.

I saw the first week of the new Ultimate Fighter, but Missed the last two... because I had no clue when it was on/ and work. I've gotta get back into it. The first ultimate fighter really gave UFC it's next great crop of fighters, with Forrest and Diego especially, and than Bonnar and Swick right behind them. Second seasons fighters weren't that great, but I'm looking forward to seeing Jorge Gurgel back in action. Supposedly he's going to be on the next Ultimate Fight Night. Apparently he's just as good, if not better than Franklin with his ground game, so it should be interesting. I predict big things from him, but alot of people are saying he's more of a trainer than a fighter.

I'm very happy to see this thread though. The ultimate fighter is definitely one of my favore reality shows on TV... but that's probably only because of the fights at the end. I'm sorry I missed the last two.

What do we think about Sylvia's upset over Arlovski? Obviously the pitbull is going to rip him apart in the rematch.

Yeah, I like Jorge on UF2, but he really didn't do well in his fight. Could have been having an off day, though...

I have to admit that I was surprised that Arlovski lost...the rematch won't be pretty though.

Tito DOMINATED the first round, but I thought Forrest had the upper hand in the second two. It being 10 point-must, I think Forrest should have won. HOWEVER, if it had been one 15 minute round, I would have given it to Tito because of the domination in the first. I was worried that Forrest was going to disappoint, but once he remembered how to sprawl, the fight got a lot more fun to watch.

Ross talked some shit tonight, and got worked. I think he was outclassed. I wanted him to win (not sure why, he's kind of a dick), but he's got a lot of training ahead of him if he wants to play with the big boys...

I remember he was injured in his fight on UF2. Can't remember what it was, but he definitely wasn't 100 percent. He seems a little small, even for his weight class, but I think he's definitely a force to be reckoned with. anybody who can train with Rich Franklin day in and day out, obviously has to be something special, considering Rich is probably the best pound for pound right now in the UFC.

Watching the fight over, I find it really hard to believe that small jab Sylvia hit brang Arlovski to the floor. I know everyone thinks he has a weak chin, but he was stepping in, and he must've lost balance, and Sylvia had the good fortune to take it from there. Awesome for him, I'm real happy for him, since I like both guys... but Arlovski will have it back soon. I know UFC isn't happy about that decision, since i'm sure they wanted, and were, building Andrei like their Fedor. But then, NOBODY is Fedor.

Exactly. If this was the pride 10 minute rounds, Tito definitely would've won it. But second round, tito didn't do anything, save for trying to bring him to the ground, and failing. third round was alot closer, but again, Tito went for the takedown 3 or 4 times before he finally got in, and Forrest got up in what? 45 seconds? And even when Tito had him down, Forrest hit more elbows from the bottom than tito did from the top. Doesn't takedown defense count for anything? And than Forrest got up, and laid into him in the last 20 seconds. I couldn't believe the decision. And I wouldn't be surprised if it was just because Forrest had nothing to lose from losing to Tito in such a good fight... but if Tito lost to Forrest, he would've been down the drain, and the potential fights from him would've meant nothing.

Michael's victory was pretty clear from the get-go. It seemed like Kristian was simply unprepared and didn't know how to react to certain attacks. IMO, the fight ended when Michael kneed him in the head, causing a bloody cut to the head. From that point on, Kristian was unstable.

This fight didn't really seem all that important to either of them. 2nd round preliminaries, you think there's a reason why the fight was so short?

Michael didn't even break out a sweat. My favoring was neutral, but cheers to his victory.

It was pretty clear that Mike would win from the stuff on his family they were doing before the fight. But that's ok... I couldn't care less for Kristian. I don't think Mike will go to the finals... but he's entertaining.

Somebody needs to tell Ken Shamrock they aren't going to win any more fights if they don't step up the training. Tito seems like a great coach, he is pretty much the opposite of what I thought he'd be.

Michael is a dangerous fighter, he hits hard and he seems to have good enough ground game to get by, although Kristian never really tested him. That gash on the top of Kristian's head was horrible. I like the format much better this season, I hated watching those stupid challenges.

I agree. I never thought I'd like Tito, but if one knew nothing about the history of the UFC, I bet 90% would like Tito over Shamrock, easily. I'm starting to feel that way, too...

And THANK GOD the product placement took a back seat. "I drink Xyience every day!" "Welcome to the Right Guard Extreme challenge!" That got pretty fucking old pretty fucking fast.

I just recently got into UFC in general and I wanted to watch this series, so I downloaded it. I've been watching early UFC events and I've seen where this whole ortiz/shamrock feud started. But in all seriousness, this show was hardly about those two.

Some thoughts on TUF 3:
Tito Ortiz is becoming one of my favorite athletes in the world. I loved him before watching this reality show and my respect for him tripled. He makes a spectacular coach. He works the hell out of the kids, but he makes them want to do it and he knows how to have fun. Their team absolutely adored him and it is no wonder why. Tito works his ass off on a whole different level and the way he subtely frustrated Ken mentally broke down Team Shamrock.

Kendall Grove was my favorite fighter on the show and I was stoked to see him win it all over the much more experienced Ed Herman. That kid has a heart that won't quit and he has a fantastic disposition.

I knew Bisping was going to beat the shit out of Haynes in the LHW final. Haynes had no business being in the finals. His win in the prelims was very controversial and he beat an alternate in the semis. It's a shame that Matt Hammill couldn't continue, because that would've been a great final. It was evident that Matt was by far the best wrestler in the field.

How about Mike Stine yelping in that first prelim fight? And Noah goign home because hsi girlfriend thought he was cheating on him? Man...what a couple of pussies they are.

What a great show. TUF 4 starts in August. It's going to be sweet.
