Dear LittleWing,

Since you are our resident right-wing wacko, your posts are probably the most interesting. However, through the course of your posting career, you have either not learned to quote properly, or you have but refuse to do so out of non-conformist tendencies.

Either way, I think I speak for most N&D posters in requesting that you learn to use the quote function, if for no other reason than it being aesthetically pleasing.

So. When you quote someone, what you want to do is ensure the reply box thingy contains:

[q u o t e]

without the spaces.

This much you understand.

But to include a name on top of the quote box as it appears in the real post, you need to include:

="name of desired poster"

Thus it will look like:

[q u o t e = " L i t t l e W i n g " ]

without the spaces. The quotation marks on either side of the name are crucial. It won't work without them. The name of course is changeable depending on who you want to quote.

End the quote the usual way:

[ / q u o t e ]

without the spaces as you usually do.

If any of this is unclear, or if anyone can do a better job than I did above, please feel free to ask or do so as the case may be. This thread may be used by yourself to practice quoting.

No offense or condescension intended by this post. I just really hate seeing your naked quote boxes with the "-name" inside it.

You can also use the code tabs to demonstrate proper code.

Code:
[quote="LittleWing"]I hate Bono.[/quote]

It's more likely that he knows how to quote properly and uses the point-by-point blank quotes in order to A) adress individual arguments and B) save time. Even if he doesn't know the "correct way," he gets his points across well enough, so I see no need for a change.

I hate to break it to you, but in your response it appears as if you caved into shades go down's demands. :P

Sometimes I just hit the quote button up top, and sometimes I use the one in the HTML stuff in the reply box.

If it is a one point wonder, it's easiest to just hit the quote thing originally, and not the reply button, if however, I must reply to 6 different unique points, it is best that I reply and then use the quote function with in it. This is for uniformity's sake mainly, as well as ease.

I always apologize when I misquote people, and try to edit my posts when I can. Just like with focker today.

It had nothing to do with you, personally. I was just picking on LittleWing for attributing your quote to me in the other thread.
