ya, this is really just an excuse to hang out in the park and drink beer
i hear ya... i played for a while, but my team got too serious... i liked the drinking and hanging out part, but once our coach started showing up with 4 wristbands, black eye paint, and statistical printouts, it was too much to take

I play as a spare for my girlfriend's dad's team. I don't have time because I play baseball.
It's actually kind of funny... I play baseball and I'm not particularily good compared to a lot of players, but when I play softball they all think I'm a superstar.

That's what I've noticed. Most of the guys are in their 30s and 40s and when I watch games, I can see how cocky they are. It's fun to go out there and beat out routine ground balls to shortstop and throw guys out at the plate... and all the while, I never say a word to anyone, while they're out there bragging.
Then I play baseball and I realize that the cocky guys there are actually really good.

back when I was in high school, I was on a baseball team that traveled to australia and new zealand to play ball against some of their best teams..One of the things we got to do was play an exhibition fast pitch softball game against NZ who had just won the world championships the year before...I was one of 2 guys on the team that actually fouled a ball off..just barely got a piece of it....those guys could play

Oh you gotta love those guys. Next to being in the park and drinking beer the best part about softball is making fun of those guys.
