What an incredible film. This documentary about wheelchair rugby athletes was moving, inspiring, and often so fuckin funny!
on a deeper level, it explores how real the struggle is for people with disabilities to be able to express sadness and accept empathy and support from others while still guarding against sappy condescension and pity - and most importantly, still defining themselves as human beings first and disabled second.
powerful stuff.

I used to play wheelchair basketball. The guys (and gals) who really needed the wheelchairs pretty regularly beat the living shit out of the rest of us.

I saw this movie last night. The part that really got me was after the olympic game, the one father was hugging his son and absolutely balling because he was so proud...tugged at the ole heart strings.

I had the same experience. It's kinda fun to watch all the temporary wheelchairers falling like flies.

It was definitely a pretty touching movie. I just can't imagine coming out of an accident like that and discovering you couldn't walk anymore. The thought of it just freaks me out.
At the same time though, it did show that many of those same folks live really full lives and engage in sports even more violent and dangerous than most non-disabled people do. Who would have thought that a sport like this even exists? Very impressive.

The one thing that blew my mind was seing how young some of the kids were at the end of the film.
