Opie and Anthony, its reported... have returned to FM... (and no this is not an attempt to circumvent the absence of A&E forum- given their nature of departure, this is qualifies somewhat as "news")

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/0 ... index.html

from CNN

and as a person close to the O&A show posted elsewhere...

You will be getting more show. You will hear the predumped CBS version from 6-9AM and a pure XM version from 9-11 or even later (to 12 NOON) if something is really rolling.
Yes, 6am to 9am will be FCC friendly. REALLY think about the show these days. Without the fucks and shits what's being talked about is well within FCC guidlines. TASTLESS SHIT IS NOT A VIOLATION! The same horrid jokes that were made on WNEW can still be made. Sex and cursing are issues.
Anything that will be too much for CBS will be done on XM between 9-11 or 12.

The up side here are the callers who can't afford satellite = more freaks and pissed off callers.
Better guests, TONS more exposure for XM and the show, and most of all sitting in Howards studio doing a show because CBS needed to put the show on to bail themselves out of a clusterfuck.

Give it a few weeks before you start getting all pissed off! REALLY listen to todays show, take out the curses and tell me how much couldn't be on Free-FM? Just relax for a while and then you can bitch if you're still pissed.

This is a great opportunity for the show, XM and CBS AND the listeners. It shakes shit up a bit and that has ALWAYS made the show better.

I mean....If it was really happening anyway.

I hope they send Stern a check each month for creating their show. At least David Lee Roth was original. He might of sucked but he didn't steal his schtick from someone else.

yeah, because anything thats similar to one thing automatically is just a rip off of another.

for the millionth fucking time- they have NEVER denied that howard was an influence to them- but that does not make them a copycat or whatever nonsense you're attempting to imply.

Are they really going to do the show from Stern's old studio? If so, that will really eat at Stern big time.

I am not sure why you're so protective of them, they're just talk show hosts

It's not that they deny that Stern is an influence, they make fun of him instead. They basically are copycats despite your insisting that label is nonsense. But I won't make baseless accusations, I'll just go read their website.

Opie & Antony's Website wrote:
What is WOW? Well, if you've been living in a cave or lost on some deserted island for the past decade WOW stands for Whip 'Em Out Wednesday, the greatest radio promotion of all time invented by the kings of cringe radio, Opie & Anthony. WOW is a tribute to ta-tas, an homage to hooters, a great big salute to boobies… It has since transformed itself into Whip ‘Em Out Whenever…because boobies are good EVERYDAY.

hmm that's interesting, nobody ever thought of women showing their boobs on the radio before these guys...I am amazed at the innovation.

They were also the first to have their staff become part of the show. Nobody ever thought to bring their producers and associate producers on air before.

I was also amazed to learn that they have a guy who has a speech impediment on their show, that's a cool idea and new to me.

I just read that a new and "crazy" thing that they are doing is encouraging fans to interupt live news broadcasts with Opie and Anthony signs or catcalls. I can't believe Stern fans didn't do this first.... .

it's pretty bad when even the fans are ripping off Stern fans

Let's face it, these guys made a name for themselves by basically taking Stern's show and doing it in the afternoon...and then bashing him. It's kinda pathetic because I had no idea who they were until about a year ago when they were kicked off FM. Apparently they talk about stern all the time on their show and even encourage fans to harrass the other people on Stern's Sirius channels. Personally I don't give a crap what they do but to claim that they don't do Stern's show is retarded.

Nudity + Retards + Speech Impediments +Raunchy Talk = Howard Stern Show

all the same, it is a rip off.

opie and nathony were mildly amusing at one point here in boston, but after the terrible prank they played on the mayor of boston...i just don't think they should be on the airwaves here at all. they are irresponsible jackasses.

that whole WOW thing? whenever i see a truck with that written in the dirt on the back, i do exactly that...but i call it "whip em off wednesday" and i give the driver a friendly look at my middle finger.

and GOOD LORD, what is wrong with a simple morning show that features MUSIC? how fucking original. i'm ready for the ancient Charles Laquidera to come back and do the Big Mattress show again.

i am officially sick of shock jocks. when will everyone realize that howard stern is an original and not to be dupicated entity and stop trying to imitate him?

to me, it is impossible to try to replace him. he's fucking brilliant and cannot be replaced.

dear CBS:

bring music back to the AM airwaves.

thank you,
kiddo

Holding that fake funeral for the Mayor was actually really funny, also the Mayor of Boston is an ass.

Thats how i see it. Why get the imitator when you can get the original. And now that stern is on all day every day, unedited, what more can you want. And why someone would want to listen to edited O&A shows that switch to unedited for the last hour or two is beyond me.

Its cute how this was a thread about a Censored act being welcomed back to Free FM... and it turned into a "o&a are just rip offs" thread. (and im sure pearl jam can be considered "rip offs" of about 30 bands in some way shape or form).

O&A have acknowledged howard's heavy influence on them, and have acknowledged the personally have had issues with him, and thats their problem with him.

Call them rip off all you want. I tried to listen to howard for years, and would be entertained from time to time, but i was never hooked. O&A hooked me.

Why is everyone so insecure and had to turn this into some ridiculous "howard is better, they are ripoffs" thread? Not one negative thing was said about your beloved howard in this thread... and I am the one being defensive?

If you like them better than Stern that's fine, I don't care. I'm sure there are plenty of people that enjoy them. I just take umbrage at them constantly ripping off Stern and their insistence on mentioning him over and over and over....

Stern has been ripped off so many times that nobody realizes that he invented that entire genre. Before him nobody talked more than they played records. Nobody ever had their producers and staff on the air; not to mention their parents. Nobody ever thought to put a radio show on TV. And of course, nobody had ever though that hot chics would play well on radio...it's radio after all, it's not visual. Heck look at the other shit he's spawned. The show Street Smarts is basically the game he used to play on his show. That show that got cancelled, Am I Hot or something like that is the same damn evaluation show Stern did for years.

I think radio wars are gay anyway. Whoever you find funny is just your sense of humor, you can't fault that. Except for Imus, how anyone likes that moron is beyond me. Does anyone watch his shitty broadcast on MSNBC? It's amazing they haven't cancelled that.

First, maybe, but Imus is nowhere near the innovator that Stern was. Not even the same ballpark.
