Official Pearl Jam Forums
Hello.
An anonymous Poster on the Official Pearl Jam forums(whose post was soon deleted), obviously close to the band, revealed that the leaked album circulating around the internet, is, in fact, a decoy. "Pearl Jam", the title of the decoy album, has been circulating in torrents and on sites quite a bit. The Poster announced that the leaked album was a rushed work meant to throw off pirates, so that fans could hear the album on May 2nd without hearing any of the songs prior. He supported his information with many strong points, saying that songs off the decoy album, like "Big Wave", and "Unemployable" weren't even that good, and that "Wasted Reprise", is actually a reprise, rather than a reprise like the song title might suggest.
At first I was skeptical, but then I completely changed my mind, as any good human being would do. The Poster shockingly reported, that if you listen to the album in the correct decoy order, a hidden message would be revealed. If listened to in the correct order---10,1,2,5,12,13,4,9,7,8,6--- the decoy contained the message "This is fake".
The idea behind this all is to throw off pirates. While pirates listen to fake copies, Pearl Jam gets some sort of sick pleasure knowing that the pirates are in fact listening to a fake album, and some are even dumb enough to like the decoy album. The band, with a strong show of dedication, decided to release one of the fake songs on their site as a free download, further wheeling in pirates, as well as playing the decoy songs live on SNL.
When reached for comment, Eddie Vedder had this to say "Um." Remarkable. The deception goes that deep, that not even Eddie Vedder knew what was going on. Reportedly, Vedder has pulled stunts like this before, where he has claimed that he "had found Jesus" and that he just didn't want to record anymore.
There is speculation that even when the album is released, listeners will still need to do some odd things to hear it in its real form. First, the listener will need to sacrifice at least two pets, and obviously be dressed in all blue. Also, the listener will have to have a Pearl Jam cookie party, wherein the last person to "Come Back" will have to eat the cookie. Finally, before listening to the cd, the listener will have to make sure that they are sitting at a perfect 180 degree angle, and that upon first listen, the record must be listened to in reverse, which is in fact the real way, meaning that the original way is actually the reverse way, and you are simply listening to it in the correct way.
When asked for his opinion on decoy albums being leaked on the internet, Maynard James Keenan, of Tool, said, "That's just fucking stupid."
How funny would it be if the last few months wer an elaborate scheme to leak a fake album, and the real album on May 2nd is 12 or 13 completely different tracks with a real album title and different artwork?
Actually...this would be fucking brilliant, because we would ahve this kick-ass self titled album and some more brand new shit.

I like the part about the cookie.

That would be completely....... FUCKING AWSOME!! I love this self titled fake piece of shit, and now we get GOLD! I can't wait for the REAL thing to come out.
In all reality though, that would really be cool. Leak the first half of the tracks they recorded and decided NOT to use, then release the REAL ones on may 2nd.

this is almost exactly what a lot of the fans on toolnavy.com are talking about with "10,000 Days", that what was leaked was just a decoy to throw everyone off.
Though if any band were to do that, it would probably be Tool.
