I know we don't have official ones and I know there is a thread about them but I thought it would be cool to talk about your favorite ones. I have been listening to Parachutes for awhile now and just decided to look up the lyrics and was really moved when I finaly heard and understood "And I wouldn't, falling fromt they sky, tell you parachutes have opened now." Really wonderful.
Also Marker in the Sand was the biggest "I just got the chills" moments of the whole record when I first heard the chorus. It's even greater knowing what the hell Eddie is saying I love the sencond one "walking tightrope high over moral ground, walk the bridges before you burn them down. Do come round with the living, let what is living love. Unforgiving, need forgiving first." Ed can be really eloqute for a mumbling pot head.
Life Wasted, specifically Wasted Reprise are really great. I like "open sores unattended, let me say just once that I have faced it, a life wasted and I'm never going back again." I love ferocity of the delivery in that song.
Everyone is loving to hate on Big Wave but the lyrics are fucking great, specifically "I feel the need planted in me millions of years ago. Can't you see the ocean's size defining time and tide. Rising, arms laid upon me."
And I was only liking Inside Job until I figured out the final lines. "Life comes from within you heart and desire."

Seen the home inside your head
All locked doors and unmade beds
Open sores unattended
Medals on a wooden mantle
Next to a handsome face
That the president took for granted
Writing checks that others pay
the truth's already out there
Looking in the eyes of the fallen
You got to know there's another, another, another, another
Another way
comatose, with no fear of falling
High above I’ll break the law,
if it’s illegal to be in love,
leave the hatred, on the cross
"You'll see dragons after 3 or 4"
Like a tear in all we know
Once dissolved we are free to grow
What went wrong?
Walking tightrope high
over moral ground.
So unforgiving, yet
needing forgiveness first
Walk the bridges before you burn them down
all the dreams we shared and
lights we turned on
but the house is getting dark
I don’t want to know your past
but together share the dawn
and I won’t need nothing else
cause when we’re dead
we would’ve had it all
thinking if he can't sleep, how will he ever dream again?
So this life is sacrificed to a stranger's bottom line
When the gas in my tank feels like money in the bank (I know a lot of people don't like this one but it's always struck me)
She's folding in darkness
Begging for slumber
The empty chair where dad sits
How loud can silence get
She tells herself
And everyone else
Father is risking
His life for our freedoms (that set of lines is brutal)
Come back, I'll be here

Lyrically and Melodically (is that a word) this whole album is a gem.
Ed's overall best work
It's one of his most consistent works to be sure but I'm not ready to call it his best.

I love the lyrics in Unemployable, what a great song.
Well his wife and kids asleep but he's still awake and his brain weighs the curse of thirty bills unpaid gets up, lights a cigarette, he's grown to hate thinking if he can't sleep, how will he ever dream again?
I haven't read the lyrics to the songs that I haven't heard yet.
