Wilco Set 2005 Dates, A Ghost Is Born Gets 2 Grammy Nods
Ah. Wilco. Listening to Wilco, especially listening to Wilco live, is a bit like digesting an incredibly large, incredibly delicious holiday meal. You feel full and alive, but at the same time awed and a bit deflated. Speaking of alive and deflated, Jeff Tweedy and the boys have announced plans to destroy NYC's Madison Square Garden this NYE along with The Flaming Lips and recent Sub Pop signees Sleater-Kinney. If that isn't enough for you greedy bastards (yes, I'm talking to you Murdoch), news also comes that Wilco have announced a set of February dates, including three shows in Florida and two nights at DC's infamous 9:30 Club.
The band also reports that Tweedy is set to take part in "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters To Santa," a 24-hour improv show starring Second City performers and special guests. Second City being the legendary Chicago comedy club that spawned such talents as Bill Murray and John Belushi. Musical guests scheduled to appear include Steve Albini, Robbie Fulks, Jon Langford, Sally Timms, and Tweedy's son Spencer's band, The Blisters. The event is set for December 21st and will include a special silent auction during Tweedy's set in which a lucky winner can bid on a private show with Jeff Tweedy (and 20 of their closest friends) in their living room. The press release states, "Tweedy will perform 20 songs of your choice".
Finally, Wilco has been honored with two Grammy nominations for June's A Ghost Is Born (Nonesuch). The first is for Best Alternative Music Album, where they'll face stiff competition from bands like Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, and sirens PJ Harvey and Bjork. The second is for Best Album Packaging, where they'll battle the Beastie Boys, Ani DiFranco, and The Shins.

So, which 20 songs would you choose?
By the way, I'd throw in $500 -- I'd probably be able to get 20 of my friends to do the same. I'm sure $10k would more than cover the cost of winning the auction. I guess I'll have to start spreading the news.

I don't know. I do know that I'd have to take the day off work to figure it out though.
Note that it just says "20 songs". I'm not sure whether it's accurate or not but to me that implies that they don't all have to be Tweedy tunes.

Susan (Jeff's wife) posted on Viachicago that 18 songs had to be Jeff's songs and 2 can be any song you want (you have to produce your setlist in advance).
Too bad you have to have the money that night.
I would love to throw a party on my rooftop deck this spring or summer with a private concert from Jeff. If I don't get laid then . . .
