They gave it 4/10...

*update - Erm, here it is?...*

OK, OK, here's the crappy review for you all to read and salivate over...

And true to my word I took a photo of the NME article with my phone. I wasn't going to tain my collection of Mojo's with that Hipster-Dufus-Crap-Rag. Enjoy:

Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam 4/10
"Call any vegetable and the chances are good/The vegetable will respond to you". Frank Zappa, true king of 60's/70's counter-culture, once sang. Pearl Jam have called on the avocado for the cover of their latest album, and the result is what you might expect - something rich, a bit slimey, and with a ruddy big hole in the middle.

Marking the pass of their millionth album (remember, here is the band that released an album for every date of a 72-date tour), this is a further stumble from the glory days of 'Ten'. It places them in the secret Soundgarden; a place of stadium-rock growls and Nickelback-esque balladry. Like throwing bangers at tramps - fun, but it's something they should have grown out of" Tim Chester

I like last part for the absolute stupidity of it...

Absolutley no mention of any songs.

Brief quote from Frank Zappa about taking to a fruit. Pearl Jam call upon an Avocado with less auspicous results.

They mention that Pearl Jam again slip away from their glory days of "Ten". The only mention of any album content is when they claim that there are "Nickleback-esqe balladry" numbers in there somewhere.

I didn't buy the rag because it's a poor excuse for a music magazine. It's for the trendy rock kids... I'm not one of them. NME and Q are both pretentious and so bias in their reviews it's shocking... Who buys this crap. They had a huge 2 page article for the Chilli Peppers new album, they gave that 7 but buried PJ in the corner of page 4...

Quite laughable, but I honestly expected when before I opened it - rip on PJ time... Give me Mojo anyday

Sounds like the reviewer was 'half cut' to me :)

And people from the UK wonder why they don't play there.

I'd like to read this and laugh. Very strange, especially as they gave Riot Act, what was it - 7 or 8 out of 10?

Find me a UK publication that doesn't rip PJ.

Uncut has given them good reviews, but they're more focused on classic rock, so not too surprising

NME most popular artists:
01. Arctic Monkeys
02. The Strokes
03. Babyshambles
04. Franz Ferdinand
05. Kaiser Chiefs
06. Bloc Party
07. Oasis
08. The Killers
09. Maximo Park
10. Libertines

I like Oasis and some Strokes and Arctic Monkey's but the rest of these bands are shite and only for hipsters....no surprise they don't like PJ.

Maximo Park & Bloc Party are less for "hipsters" than Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Babyshambles & The Libertines, and both are good bands.

It is THE HIPSTER magazine for UK students. It's like a bible here.

Anyway, i'll go back to the store, take a picture of the text and transcribe it in a bit... No chance i'll waste £2 on that crap though...

I like at least four of those bands, but the NME gets pretty hysterical about them. You can't expect them to like Pearl Jam, much in the same way you can't expect Pitchfork to like them. They are old news, and they don't fit the mold.

Who cares?

Bloc Party sound absolutely NOTHING like Blur (thank god, cuz imo Blur are shite besides a few songs)

Blur haven't had hardly any songs nearly as heavy as BP
