I'm all for Pearl Jam playing SNL and Letterman to hype their new album but this is taking it too far. Not that I won't pick up a McChickabatta and a McMcCready collectors cup...

Jamburgler – Pearl Jam and McDonalds Team Up
In a move that will likely surprise thousands of their fans, Pearl Jam has decided to team up with McDonalds. They will appear on radio and television commercials starting in May, coinciding with the release of the band's new self-titled album, Pearl Jam, and McDonalds' new McChickabatta, a variation on their popular McChicken sandwich. This move, along with others, is aimed at bringing Pearl Jam back into the pop-music spotlight they dominated in the early ‘90s.
"When you think about it, this is a perfect match." Says McDonalds spokeswoman Linda Felton. "Pearl Jam's fans have all but abandoned McDonalds for restaurants like Subway and Arbys. We need them back. And Pearl Jam needs the new younger generation of fans that frequent McDonald's. What better way than with a delicious new sandwich made with fresh, soft ciabatta bread."
Guitarist Stone Gossard, known for his mostly negative views on corporate America, says this of what he calls ‘a new McDonalds.' "When I was growing up [McDonalds] was a different company. They served all their food in this Styrofoam sh*t that doesn't biodegrade, ever. Now they are much more aware of the impact they are having on the World."
The new partnership is not limited to commercials. Collectors' cups featuring individual band members will come free with the ‘McChickabatta Meal Deal.' For its part, the band will feature a life-sized, guitar toting Grimus (see photo below) on stage during their American and European tours. "I'm sure some will think it a joke," says front man Eddie Vedder, "but after the shows I bet more than a couple people will stop by McDonalds on the way home."
The television commercials will feature Ronald McDonald crowd surfing at a concert, while radio ads will be based on a new song, 'Life Wasted.' The song's lyrics inspired McDonald's new slogan, 'I'm Goin' Back Again,' replacing their current slogan 'I'm Lovin' It.'
'Having tasted, the McChickabatta sandwich, Come tomorrow I'm going back again.'
The ring tone jingle will soon be available for purchase from J Records.
