In terms of the music they wrote for that album.

Ed - Riot Act
Stone - Ten (Yield is close)
Jeff - Ten
Mike - Yield
Matt - Pearl Jam (I know he wrote Unemployable with Mike, but it's better than any of the stuff he had a hand in on Binaural or Riot Act)

i hope Ed wouldn't regard RA as his best work

Matt- Pearl Jam (I especially think he rips on Marker and Severed Hand and Life Wasted
Ed- probably Vitalogy but they all have very strong points for him especially for lyrics
Jeff- Vs. Ten(close)
Mike-Yield or maybe Vs.
Stone-Pearl Jam but Ten is very close

So Betterman is just that much better than the combination of Can't Keep, Thumbing My Way, I am Mine, Arc and Green Disease?

If the new album isn't Mike's best, than I haven't been paying attention to the songwriters on each album. Which is also a good possibility.

Stone - Ten (although Fatal is my favorite song of his)
Mike - Yield
Jeff - Yield
Matt - Riot Act (bite me)
Ed - Tie between Vs. and Binaural for the sheer glory of Rearviewmirror and Grievance

Of course, this is all coming from someone who is still a Pearl Jam: Self Titled virgin (except for WWS).

who the fuck said anything about betterman, i hate that song, it doesnt make any sense for you to compare one song to five others

i think if you look at all the songs ed wrote on vitalogy, and look at all the songs ed wrote on ra, the vitalogy will win by a huge margin in my opinion, besides tmw, which is what i believe to be eds strongest lyrics ever, but that song alone cant take on vitalogy

I'm talking about music, in which case...the only song Ed wrote on Vitalogy would be Betterman. Ed completely dominates the lyrical aspect of Pearl Jam, that is a pointless discussion.
