Was hoping the quality would be a little better.... but still fucking cool.
isn't it soundboard?
it is, but the guitars are pretty low in the mix. def not nearly as great as any of the 00-03 bootlegs, that's for sure, as those were professionally recorded & mixed.
I'll have to check it out again tonight, but I seem to think the bootleg dvd I've got of this show sounds better. Still pretty cool freebie, though.
hardly a freebie since we had to pay 10 extra bucks compared to what we would pay in the store. if the sound is really as bad as you guys are saying i'm going to be very very disapointed.

I just got my order in ze mail. I'm just outside DC so its hit the east coast. Check your mailboxes. If its not there today, it should be tomorrow (hopefully). Kudos to the 10C for getting this out to people before the official release date.
The album interestingly enough is like a hard-cover book and the CD isn't the puzzle piece, its the orange/burnt flame one. The bootleg comes in a single black and white sleeve with a "military" style font. It has the band's name in all caps at the top and the cover picture is a guitar volume knob set on 10. Below it reads "LIVE IN NYC 12/31/92."
On the back, it says in the similar military-style font "THE ACADEMY, NEW YEAR's EVE 1992" above a smaller image of the same photo on the cover. In the lower left hand is a circular symbol of a bison covered in the American flag that reads "PEARL JAM MARK OF QUALITY."
There is no booklet. Ed seems to be in an intense mood for this show. Hearing "Wash" as a harder, more violent version is definitely kinda surprising. I just wish the guitars were louder.
The actual disc has a larger version of the same bison in the American flag with the same labels. What perfect timing to receive a new album. I start working a job tonight in the venue where I first saw Pearl Jam at the end of their 1994 run. I'll be blasting this shit the entire drive over and all the way back.

I agree that it sounds more like an audience recording to me, too, but it probably is a sbd, just with lots of audience and little guitar.

doesnt sound like soundboard to me either. I think with the audience noise and how bad the vocals sound that it must be an audience recording. Probably done by the band themselves, it might be how they did things in the early days. either way the quality is poor, and probably why they are giving it away and not charging us for it.

And, apparently, Ed really, really, didn't like Marky Mark.... lol
Personally, I don't think this is soundboard, sounds like a very good audience recording to me.
Amazing energy. The back cover has a volume knob turned all the way up to 10. Definitely the right way to listen to this!
why? mark wahlburg is bad ass. i like him well ...i guess"pearl jam" isn't going to be used on Entourage
This was in his "Funky Bunch" days. Ed ripped on him for being a no talent musician who takes his clothes off to become popular, kinda like Madonna. It's pretty damn funny.

For anyone who didn’t understand what Ed is talking about, this show was broadcast over the huge videoscreen in Times Square, and just to the side of that screen in 1992 was a HUGE billboard of Marky Mark in his underwear ad. So that’s why Ed said, “that must mean Marky Mark is right here. Let’s all give Marky Mark the fucking fingerâ€.

Where is the damn thing.....it doesn't appear that it got shipped with my 10C pre-sale that arrived today?
that's weird. i haven't even gotten the album yet but if it comes without the live show i'm gonna flip a shit.
