how the hell does Wal-Mart get to sell the album early?... i know for fact that the album is at 3 Wal-Marts... at least one here where i live in NC.... a Wal-Mart in Peoria, IL... and a Wal-Mart in the Chicago-area... friends of mine have seen/purchased it.... how the hell do they get away with this?... i was so excited that the 10c got us the album early, but i guess they really didnt... anyway, is this legal?

I checked my local wal-mart today after I didn't get it from the 10c and the guy I talked to said that they normally don't receive new releases until the week after the release date. Is it just me, or does that not make sense? It figures that the wal-mart I go to doesn't even get new releases on time.

this happens all the time at wal-mart, not just with pj. they get their shipments of the new stuff usually the wednesday or thursday before. you get someone working in that department who doesnt know whats what and they find them sitting behind the counter, they put them out.

if they tell a supplier they want something at a specific price, they get it - why? because if the supplier says no, walmart will stop buying from them, and they'll go out of business (or relocate their factories and jobs to other developing nations where labor is cheaper).
not saying that j records will go out of business (or sony for that matter), but it just shows that walmart does what it wants because who can stop them? they just say 'fuck off - if you dont like us, dont sell through us.'
but then no one outside of cities will be able to buy albums in brick and mortar music stores... many places throughout our nation depend on walmart for EVERYTHING.
i saw a whole documentary on this on pbs, and after watching it, my fiance and i vowed to never shop there again, although it is by far the most convinient store for us to go to.
its disgusting how they run their business.
and on top of it - they only sell censored cds.

I think this clearly wasn't limited to Wal-Marts. I think the official release date for this album totally went down the shitter, and I don't think anyone cares (well, except for those who can't find the album for sale anywhere).

I didn't get mine yet, but since I downloaded it like 3 weeks ago, I can't complain.
I very specifically don't ever buy music at WalMart, they only sell edited versions of everything.
Is it an edited version? Used to be they only sold edited versions of albums, that would suck to buy a PJ album to get home and all the good parts were messed up.

Furthermore, I bought Riot Act at Wal Mart and it wasn't censored at all. They only use clean versions for rap albums or other stuff they know will probably have expletives.

otherwise, you buy the version that the label puts out, as is.
if a band refuses to make a 'clean' version of an 'explicit' cd, walmart will not sell it.

as far as getting the cd in early, i would assume its the same as at best buy (where i work). i dont work in that department, but they do have a pretty good system to ensure that this type of thing doesnt happen. what they didnt count on was me going into their section in the back, grabbing the new album, getting rung up for vitalogy, and leaving with my new album with a legit looking receipt. haHA!
