ok well i have a bunch of pearl jam concerts that i have got from trades and downloading via bittorrent. im trying to get them all organized as opposed to just all being thrown in a folder on my hard drive. my question is this. i know that shn and flac are both losless, but is one better than the other i mean should i convert the flac to shn or the shn to flac?? and does it matter if i do, will i lose any quality? thanks

Both formats being 'lossless' essentially means that regardless of the format you choose, the audio will essentially be the same. I would say choose which format you are more comfortable with using and/or already have a significant amount of material encoded.

I'd leave them burnt in the format you acquire them in. That's what i do with mine, anyway - archived to DVD-R after the audio shows have been burnt.
Logically, converting them would do no good, even if one format were better than the other (which is not the case). Your result could be no better than the original source.

Yep, just ask Stevie Ray Vaughan.

thanks, what i ment to say ...'is one better than the other to archive' i know if it was a .mp3 and i made it a .shn i would be no better off, but since i see that for storing them it doesnt really matter ill just keep them in the same format. thanks
