Here in Portugal there aren’t many magazines where music is the mane subject. In fact since last week there aren’t any… the only one that existed (called Blitz) is closing down because of financial problems. For 20 years, weekly, it was the principal guide for people of loved music and wanted to know what was out there… before the internet it was the only place were we could know what bands were coming to play and where…
They accompanied Pearl Jam throughout the years, always giving the guys good reviews and giving us, fans, feedback about their tours… the last number of Blitz as Pearl Jam on the cover and inside there’s an interview and other articles about their music…
It’s bad to see the magazine end, but, as a Pearl Jam fan, there is a special meaning in the fact that the last number as them on the cover…
She stepped off the bus out into the city streets
Just a small town girl with her whole life
Packed in a suitcase by her feet
But somehow the lights didn’t
Shine as bright as they did
On her mama’s tv screen
And the work seemed harder
And the days seemed longer
Than she ever thought they’d be
But you know you got to stick to your guns
When it all comes down
Cause sometimes you can’t choose
It’s like heads they win
Tails you’re gonna lose
Win big--mama’s fallen angel
Lose big--livin’ out her lies
Wants it all--mama’s fallen angel
Lose it all, rollin’ the dice of her life
Now she found herself in the fast lane livin’ day to day
Turned her back on her best friends, yeah
And let her family slip away
Just like a lost soul
Caught up in the hollywood scene
All the parties and the limousines
Such a good actress hiding all her pain
Trading her memories for fortune and fame
Just a step away from the edge of a fall
Caught between heaven and hell
Where’s the girl I knew a year ago
Too much too soon
Or just a little too late
Cause when her ship came in
She wasn’t there and it just wouldn’t wait

I don't mean to be a dick, but I would condider myself fortunate if I were in your position... I'd much rather have memories of a good magazine now gone, than the wretched pice of shit magazines we have down here that will never die.

By the way "Pearl Jam" is a great album...
you know.. Blitz ended as a newspaper, but it will rise again from the ashes as a completely new, bigger in contents, music magazine

what does the article say?

I didn't get to that because it's not much different from other reviews you’ve posted here. They go into a bit of their history and their place in music and what it was like to make the album. Nothing really new. It was more the symbolic aspect I wanted to refer here.
But everyone around here (I guess everywhere) is crazy about this album. I can’t wait to see them live. I’m working in an African country right now and I’m not sure I can be in Portugal when they play there is September… but I already bought tickets to both shows… Last time they were in Lisbon it was a stadium gig and I managed to make my way to the the front rows before they started to play I was being kicked and pushed throughout the opening and performance (I can’t remember who they were) but I was resisting because I wanted to be as close to the guys as I could… I managed to “survive†for about one our but finally I had enough pushing and shoving (sometimes things get a little out of hand around here) so I had to get out of there… two minutes after I left they started to play (off the girl was the first song)… I was so frustrated… I left with two broken ribs to talk about (besides the great great show of course)… but…
