i've noticed that a few of the songs start off in this dark, minor chord progression that i totally dig... then as the song progresses towards the end, the song switches into this upbeat, major chord tempo that is much more happy sounding...

the biggest example of this is Inside Job... i love the starting of this song.. the dark, slow, melodic sound of the guitar, keyboard and ed's voice.. by the end, it's really upbeat and happier sounding.. even lyrically...

i would love it if the song were dark the entire way through.. i guess you could say the band is doing this on purpose.. it means something.. going from sad to happy.. or the feeling of total loss... to pure joy.. etc... but for me, those are big changes in the song's overall mood and it's tough for me to grasp all the time.. i usually listen to a song to provoke a mood... if i wanted to listen to just a dark song.. i couldn't listen to these as much cause of the change..

i'm a HUGE pj fan and love every song.. but this is just something i've noticed on a lot of these songs... i won't name them, but check it out for yourself and tell me what you think..

it's interesting if nothing else..

Yes. That theme is throughout the whole album. The album itself starts of angry and ends up hopeful.

The best example of this, I think, is Marker In The Sand.

exactly.. that was another one... i guess i understand the overall theme as an album.. but per individual song is a bit much sometimes.. i wish Marker would just keep on rockin' like the beginning and i wish Inside would stay slow and dark..

but that's just me.. still love them all.

these changes are actually what i like most about the album. i love the contrast in the chorus and verses in songs like marker or gone.

i can see how the art work for the album ties in with this. the cover is a nice happy blue color w/ some stupid piece of fruit, while the inside is, well, zombies and shit.

I can't stand the Marker outro.

it's not that i can't stand it.. but i'd prefer it just to keep rocking and not get so happy sounding. there are a few moments on the album where i'm waiting for a choir to start singing behind ed.. that would just kill me!
