"due to popular demand" my ass. it was most likely always in the works to release these movies on dvd in extended and original form at separate times. george lucas wont stop until he's gotten every last penny he can out of these movies.

I'm not so sure about that. I never thought the originals would ever see the light of day again, as Lucas seems so obsessed with keeping everything updated to exactly how HE wants them.

im 99% sure this is for money. in a few years, theyre probably gonna release the originals with the all the deleted scenes. dont get me wrong, i love the theatrical releases, they have a certain charm to them, but after shelling out $60-70 for the first set of dvds, lucas can suck a nut if he thinks im buying these editions.

I hope we're talking about those '94 cleaned up versions w/ the THX sound.

Goddamn George Lucas fucking LOVES my money.
"Each original theatrical version will feature Dolby 2.0 Surround sound"
I guess that means it will be the original mix?... before Ben Burtt decided to drown out John Williams music.

While I'm happy that these versions are finally available on DVD, I don't like the fact that I have to buy the 2004 versions all over again. I spent $50 on them in 2004, I sure as hell don't want to buy them again.
But I will, since I have like three sets of the OT on VHS.
imo, what lucas should of done is wait and release all 6 on blu-ray discs. help the release of the upcoming format. build customer support ... for the format. now that would totally rock.
