I'm not pushing this b/c its on the site I'm writing on but because it's really interesting (and it's getting picked up by SI soon). The guy who writes about the Warriors on MostValuableNetwork.com recently "declared" for the draft and is being entered as an unknown. He plans on going through all the motions an NBA draft pick would and document them for posterity and entertainment purposes. I think it's pretty neat, and Dave is a pretty funny dude.

My roommate and I were going to declare for the NFL draft last year after we had reached the three years out of high school requirement. Apparently you have to get signatures from college coaches or the athletic director or something. We were really looking forward to going to New York.
some guy did this a few years ago. He was contacted by the NBA scouting guru (Marty Blake) who wanted to know if he was serious.

im not 100% certain, but i seem to recall a kid at my community college who fucked around and declared for the draft, he almost fucked up his last year of eligibility at the CC for doing so, until everyone realised it was just a joke
