seriously:
we sit here and celebrate our birthdays, christmas and easter. those are just three holidays i've picked out. they're 'so important' to the mass of people. 'i'm 21 today! yay!' and 'god cares about my every move!'
how about we think about the birth of the fucking earth we're now killing slowly and care more about the future of humanity and life on it rather than turning 53-years-old?
and celebrating holidays is just one thing. how about people that needlessly spend money on cars, clothing, accessories, alcohol...it's unreal.
so many humans think 'hey, i'm only on this earth for 80 years, i'm going to enjoy myself' without thinking that there are other people would like to enjoy themselves down the line that haven't been born yet.

I agree with the part about needless spending, but I can still respect the Earth and celebrate holidays and enjoy the hell out of my life in the process.

Why do assume people that celebrate Easter aren't also environmentally conscience?
this doesn't have so much to do with being 'environmentally conscience' as much as it does people wasting their time on meaningless stuff as compared to spending time on things that matter: the survival of all life on earth as we know it.

Why can't you do both?
if you can do both, that's unbelievable fantastic, but i've seen a tendency for humans to do one thing and not the other.

and yet you spend a good deal of time on an internet message board instead of saving a tree and the dolphins

You just have to accept that many people will end up on a path that you don't agree with. The key is to worry about yourself and those closest to you that you might actually have a chance at educating. Fuck the rest...they'll have to lie in the bed they make, whether that's being broke, stupid, or whatever.

so in other words, you think that saving the earth is most important, so we should too? got it
not as much my point here. more my point is you should have concerns that are more important that your birthday, and they shouldn't be christmas and getting drunk.

Ehh, I disagree. There's different levels of life and you've got to balance them all. If somebody spends all their time campaigning to save the earth or make marriage for homosexuals legal, or any other one thing, they'll burn out and be uselss. It's OK to have fun sometimes and celebrate your birthday and whatnot. It's rejuvenating. I do think that everyone should have some cause that they strongly believe will make the world a better place, but that doesnt mean it has to take control over all the other aspects of their life. That ain't healthy.
