I think Pearl Jam should just do away with studio albums. Don't get me wrong, I love "Pearl Jam" and every single release they have, but after seeing the Letterman broadcast of the new songs, IMO the energy is lacking from the new release. There is something that happens live in front of say 2,000 fans that the band just explodes and they are untouchable. I think they should get the 12 or 13 songs they want on a new record, go to the Ed S. Theater in front of 2000 fans from the fanclub and just record and release it as the new album. The new songs, especially "Marker in the Sand" really came to life on that stage that for some reason falls very flat on the record for me.
Anyone agree or am I just too excited after seeing the broadcast?

I agree. I don't like the production on the album too much. Eddie's double-tracked through-out the record, and his voice is way to low in the mix. The stuff is much better live, Severed Hand was amazing on Later with Jools Holland.

The magic of Pearl Jam live cannot be represented faithfully in the studio; I like the albums because I know when I hear the songs live, they will be greatly improved.
At first I thought this thread was created because you just listened to Ten.

there's no reason they can't do both. I've just started letterman now and I have jools later (see the trading forum). It's going to be a kick ass may
