Seriously, I think this is Jeff's best album. He is all over the place. Army Reserve is playing now and he carries the song. He's on point for every track!! I love it.
I thought he was a little dull on Binaural and he came to live on RA...but on Avo, he is rocking and on fire.

Exactly! I haven't explored this album as much as I would like to but one of the first things I noticed was how well Jeff plays and how prominent he is in the songs. This is thought out of ignorance of the particular instrument: I sometimes wonder (don't bash me) if any other bass player could do just as well for this type of rock. While listening to Avocado I don't want anyone else.

for perhaps the first time it could really be argued that jeff, matt, mike, and stone outshine eds vocals. i think the music sounds tight and clean. however, not one to criticize the vocals, but the record does seem a bit wordy, and ed sound a bit constipated at times. however, still love it.

well, seeing as on RA, ed sounded as if he was a million miles away and couldnt care less about singing those songs, id have to disagree. even tho theyre arent many moments on that record that the music totally takes over. but the vocals are so tired and bland, they are easily outshined.

jeff has been pretty solid every record, but there are few pj songs where the bass really drives the song and avocado doesn't break this trend.

i think ed does great in this album, i love the lyrics, they might be as good as Vs. for me... the vocals are great on "Come Back" too. No one captures emotions in vocals and lyrics like this guy.

I think it's his best with Pearl Jam and it sounds very Soundgarden-ish to me.
Jeff's playing is one of the first things that I noticed on the new album. Speaking of Severd Hand, I think that he sounds the best on this song, it's funkalicious.

I agree, but I put it down to him trying something different, trying to move away from 'his' sound, due to the popularity of staind, creed etc etc.
Glad he came back on the new one tho

And I also agree about Matt, the whole band really came together great musically for this record. I was never impressed by Matt all that much, but he shines on this album.
