I just watched the Jools Holland interview and when talking about avacado and how the band was capturing better music than ever before Ed said it was their "last attempt".
I really hope I heard wrong and he actually said latest, but I listened to it twice and I'm pretty sure it's last

"Last attempt" could mean "most recent attempt."

I doubt they would stop here.. They wouldn't sign with J Records for just 1 record, That would be absolutly pointless seeing as how they could've ended with Riot Act on Epic .. and not have signed with J. I see alot more from Pearl Jam. This is not the end... it's a new beginning

Don't worry about that. During the 2000 tour, Ed made numerous comments at the end of differents shows. They sounded like : "this is our last tour" or "I don't know if we are gonna see you again"...

Actually their deal with J records is for only one album, but the band has been praising J constantly in interviews saying they'd love to continue working with them. I don't think this is their last, it's a whole new era of PJ and the band's actually excited and, dare I say it, happy. I don't think they're going to stop any time soon.
Didn't Ed have a comment to the effect of: "Pearl Jam is like an old truck, and this album is like a new engine" I doubt anyone would sell a car after forking in the long haul for the new engine.

Blah, blah, blah...
He might've felt that way after Rosklide.

i don't want to sound unpleasant but i think that pearljam should end as a band sometime in the future..
i don't want to see them becoming like the stones

or they could be like the Cure & still make great music 30 years in their career.. creativity is everything, not just how "old" you are.

In my opinion, the Cure's lastest album in 2004 was incredible. Just as critically acclaimed as this new PJ album. I dont know how you think its awful.
