and I need input. few things:

1. i am DONE with the Knicks, until the day Zeke and Dolan either die or no longer run the show. They have destroyed the team I love, and I cannot take another minute of them.

2. this is not a bandwagon situation. I am looking for a team to root for for the laong haul. therefore, Detroit is out, S.A. is out. No teams that are already lights out great. I want an up and comming squad who will not suck yr after yr, with no hope. Like NY. haha.

3. According to the wife, "no ugly uniforms/colors". this is important to her as she wont wear the ugly colors of the bobcats or "stupid logo" of the Jazz. her words.

I know this is a tall order, but I miss being a basketball fan. The Knicks have killed the sport for me.

So far I am looking at the LA Clippers, as I already am a Dodger fan. No Lakers, too close to a bandwagon type thing. BUT, is this yr a fluke for the Clips? Or are they really shedding their past cheap-sucky ways

Also the Memphis Grizzlies, because the wife likes the logo and thinks Paul Gasol is cute.

MAYBE philly as they have GTOWN star Allen Iverson. but I hate Webber.

the clippers would be a good choice. with the exception of sam cassell all of their talented players are under contract for the next 2-3 years so regardless of what happens this year i think the clippers will be contenders in the near future. im glad the clippers management finally decided to pay their players instead of letting them go elsewhere and become all stars

also i dont think cheering for the lakers will be "bandwagon" because they are nowhere near the championship level they were at couple of years. i guess cheering for a phil jackson team would bring back painful memories

but this situation with the Knicks goes beyond the players. I have had it with James Dolan, and Isaiah Thomas, and the way they have destroyed the franchise with no hope in site. its not a matter of waiting until they get better players, its the way Thomas runs (i mean ruins) the team as GM and the way Dolan continues to back him no matter how bad Zeke fucks up.

I wish I could say things can't get any worse for the Knicks, but they probably will.

I've never thought about jumping ship as a fan....but the Layden/Isiah era has been MUCH worse than anything I've been through with any of my other favorite teams.

I dont think I can do it. This was a team that I once skipped a HS final to hang out in front of MSG for a 2nd round playoff game. me and my pals used to live and die by each Knicks possession.

Ive rooted proudly thru the Dodgers non playoff yrs, the 1990's Rams (the worst team of the 90s), and the post Ewing NYK. so this is extremely hard, and Im sure it wont even take. we shall see

well, if you're buying you could go with Cleveland, the obvious choice, though logically, it's almost insane to believe in any team from Cleveland unless you are a glutton for punishment, though clearly you are.

I'd say don't become a Hawks fan.

Maybe the Bulls. It'd be sweet revenge, think about changing your heritage from the Pathetic Knicks to the young and coming Bulls and all the semi recent Jordan heritage. Even though you missed it by 10 years I guess as a Knicks fan, that would be bandwagonish.

Or just pick a team with your favorite young point guard.

I think at this point if I wanted a team, I'd pull for the Mavs, because thier owner really wants to win, and I like thier coach.

At least pick a western conference team and pledge that you'll return to the NYK once things change. It's hard to watch a franchise flounder for this long.

my plan is to return to the NYK on the day both Dolan and Thomas officially are no longer Knicks employees.

I was thinking it has to be a team out west. I like how Houston has a strong Knicks connection, with JVG, Patrick, and Chuckles Ward as coaches. But im still bummed about 94, and Houston can go suck it. haha.

Phoenix is fun to watch.
Memphis and Minnesota are annual disappointments.
Portland sucks.
Seattle is frustrating.
LAL isn't an option.
Dallas is fun to watch and Cuban is great.
SA is solid top to bottom.
Denver is fun, but Furious George is bound to implode soon, if he isn't already.

I think Phx, Dallas, and the Clippers will all be good for at least a few more years... Those are my favorites out west.

In the east.. well... I don't know, I follow the west more, but Orlando seems promising w/ Dwight and no more Franchise... I don't much care for Miami, Cle, NJ, etc... I like Detroit, although that's kinda bandwagony.

It's still the Clippers, though. I'm staying skeptical until this actually comes true.

Out of your choices, I would pick Memphis. Cool logo/colors, decent team, other conference, and no real history (except 0 for 12 in the playoffs).

I had the same situation with my NFL team last season. I switched, and I wish I had done it a lot sooner. No regrets, even if my old team happens to win the Super Bowl (which they won't for a while).

Yeah, if Sam walks, they still gotta find a good point guard to really compete. They've got the dominant big man and a nice group of role players, though.
