Never get a sex change. Ever.

Who did the backing vocals on Summer Nights?

Well, I did Olivia Newton John and John Travolta's vocals. The rest was just on the karaoke mix, which I was fine with.

God bless,

Jared

P.S. I work with puppets from time to time.

Anyone catch the political asides in "Hero"?

God bless,

Jared

Can't say I blame you. I don't like it much either. Chad Kroeger bit the hand that fed him (a la Matt Cameron, the redeeming part of the song to me, from Pearl Jam and then the man rags on Pearl Jam.)

God bless,

Jared

I just like to pretend that Matt Cameron and those other guys were never in the same room together. What the hell was he thinking?

You know, my friend and I have this theory about Matt Cameron. We call him "Emperor." "Emporer" is probably one of the greatest influences in Pearl Jam now. I mean, with Jack Irons, would we ever see back-to-back shows clocking in at nearly three hours or over? With Jack Irons, would we have seen a tour EXTENDED considerably?

We love Jack, just the same. But Matt has brought life to this band that was kind of fading in the Jack Irons-era. And likewise, Matt has been a more significant songwriter than Jack ever was with the band, for better or for worse. (I happen to like Matt's stuff with the band.)

But with Matt, we've seen a full return to form with Ticketmaster. Matt's been able to switch drumkits, for the purpose, I suspect for cash flow. We've seen bootlegs and probably some of the best merchandising with the Pearl Jam name on it. It actually seems like Pearl Jam is enjoying to be able to make some money now. And they really enjoy playing live now more than ever, it seems. Matt has been a huge contributor to all of this I suspect, and with all things equal, I'm sure Matt didn't want Soundgarden to break up necessarily. But now he's got a more active, and livelier regular gig anyway, so maybe he's happier. I'll tell you what, there's nothing more that can make me happier with Matt being in the band than his son Ray Cameron offering that little bit in that newsletter a few years back. So precious, so precious. Matt is the man.

Bottom line, "Hero" was easy for Matt to do. A little more money in the bank. And he was probably flattered to be offered to do the song among guys that are ten to fifteen years younger than him.

God bless,

Jared

P.S. Sorry for getting off-topic. This will be my last post in this thread about Matt Cameron. :)

I dont see anything wrong with showing a little love for Matt, even if it has nothing to do with anything.

By the way, I'm curious. What was the sex change comment about? I mean, I think I have an idea, but I'd like you to clarify. Do I not have a womenly-like voice when I do a falsetto?

God bless,

Jared

This actually cracked me up

BTW, you have a pretty good voice, Jared - at least in Summer Time, 'cause Hero is a bit sloppy :)

Flashes of good. The lead voice was kind of all over the place, which had the back up vocals playing catch up at times. Nice effort though.

I guess I'm one of the few people that actually liked the original song.

Thank you, Ender. Quite a compliment. I hope you enjoy the two new latest ones, if only for the humor content.

Um, you know, "Hero" wasn't all me. I know I had some sour parts, but Joe was supposed to be lead. He did the first verse, and he seems to get really crazy with screaming off-key at times, as can be exhibited. I think he's good at quieter stuff. I was thinking about uploading one of his funny, quiet, and original songs that he hates, but I'm sure others would love. He's got a better voice than what he leads on most of the time.

Honestly, he was hilarious when he did "You Know Your Right" by Nirvana at karaoke one time. He sang the verses soft and quiet and well. But the chorus, it was like he knew he had to scream, but it was also like he never heard the song before. The timing was off. He was putting so much into it and going off-key and really screechy. People were in stiches and I had to hold back from laughing out loud myself. Believe me, I know I'm not perfect and I laugh at my own voice [Isn't that the thing with singers sometimes, we hate our own voices?], but there was little to stop me from laughing through that trainwreck. It took a lot of willpower that night, let me tell you.

God bless,

Jared
