Have you ever thought about how much it would suck if PJ was actually a really crappy band after all? What if news came out that Ed plagerized lyrics and they had songwriters working for them etc...

That if they Milli-Vanilli-ed songs during concerts and completely sold out behind the scenes, how would this affect your world. For me it would make me question a lot of things and my judgement about the world around me. I'd go and buy a Creed cd to try to find meaning, and start watching American Idol and Mtv... and probably get really drunk

NOTE: This obviously isn't how I feel about the band, just a hypothetical scenario and how you would handle it

I would still jerk off 3 times a day, so it wouldn't affect my life all that much.

I get a lot more work done and be even more disappointed with REM's latest record since they'd be my favorite band

I'd probably listen to a lot more Pink Floyd and AC/DC, just like before PJ came along. And get drunk, as normal.

My thoughts exactly.

I would track down their song writers and become fans of theirs!

A. I would not feel as guilty about posting Ed's home address on another message board.

B. S-K or Mogwai would be my favorite band.

C. Would spend even more time masturbating to Internet porn.

I'd just spend more time listening to other bands I love, like KISS, Metallica, Megadeth, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Beatles, RHCP, etc., etc.

Needless to say, I have plenty to fall back on if something like this ever happened.

Pearl Jam fell down a few notches in my book (yes, my book has notches) between Binaural and Riot Act, so at this point it wouldn't make much of a difference.

Would knowing any of this make you stop listening to them? Or enjoying their music?

^^I don't think so. Maybe like it a little less, but I'd still like it.

YES! I would sell all my PJ CDs and tear down my shrine in our spare bedroom. I'll be honest, PJ makes good music, but it's the little things that make them my favorite band - their integrity, great live show and how they treat their fans are very important to me.

Many will disagree, but I think that an important phase in each *true* PJ fan's experience is realizing that the band isn't perfect, that some of their songs (and albums) do suck, and that there are *gasp* better bands out there (in fact, they're touring with one right now, IMO). Since I've accepted that, I've been able to enjoy the music a lot more.

I'll agree with you here. They are my favorite band, but they are in no way the best band out there. Although I have to say PJ's new CD stands up very well against the new CDs of the other bands I like.

Yup, exactly. They seem to have accepted that they're not an art-rock band, just a great, tight ROCK band. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd cry and start listening to Hawthorne Heights and other emo bands.

If this happened maybe two years ago, I'd be pissed as hell. Now, they're not quite as big a part of my life. I'd still enjoy the albums that I enjoy now...essentially No Code...but there'd be a certain negative vibe from it.
