... do you every say to yourself, "hey, maybe I'll see a movie today from a genre other than horror?"

Horror seems to be Loathed's favorite genre, but we've had many a debate/talk about movies outside of said genre. Though I loathe (pun intended) his love of Tarantino, he's pretty smart and well-versed when it comes to the celluloid.

There aren't many American directors who understand and execute pure cinema like Tarantino.

Why would I do something crazy like that?

Seriously though, I love movies in general, and see quite a few outside of the horror genre. I just have an enthusiasm for horror flicks I don't have for many other movies, especially when discussing them with others. It's kind of hard to find others who feel the same way I do about them.

The last movies I've seen were Crash, Singles, Rounders and A History of Violence so I actually haven't watched a horror movie in a while. The next movie I'll watch in the theater are probably the Da Vinci Code and X3. Then again, there aren't really any decent horror movies coming out at the moment either.

Thanks, frank. :)

Yes, I watch a lot of movies. I love my horror, that's for sure, but I watch a lot. For what it's worth, I worship Kubrick and Polanski like the immortal gods they are (were  ), and NO I do not think The Shining and Rosemary's Baby are their best!

I'll also add that I own 352 titles on DVD, and only about 71 of those are horror.

Sorry, B. I'm a movie buff so I had to chime in here. If you didn't want anyone else to respond, maybe you should have PM'd the two gentlemen you referred to?

I just always notice that EVERYTIME I see a commercial for a new horror movie, there's a new thread about it here started by one of you two.

We could probably do it by PM, but I like to spread the love. I get the feeling that the PJ fan community needs to know a little more about horror, and if we could convince just a few people here to watch the original Dawn of the Dead or TCM, I would feel our work was done. 8)

Well, it's just one of the things, I guess. I can't really explain why I love horror like I do, but I just know that I love it. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that it pushes the limits of what can be filmed more than any other genre and puts you through more than most other genres. When I finish watching a good horror movie, I want to feel exhausted. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen very often, but that doesn't usually stop me from enjoying the hell out of them all the same, and I certainly won't stop looking for those that do exhaust me.

I guess what it boils down to is that I'm a sick freak who likes to see people graphically killed in creative ways. :P

I have Hostel on my Netflix list, but I'm scared of the day it comes.

Do not fear - Hostel was one of the most fun movies I've seen in a while. I laughed the whole way through.

Don't worry, you'll at least see some nice titties before things start getting graphic. Personally, I loved it, but that's been pretty well documented at this point.

I think you'll find that there are more people out there who are into this stuff than you realize and we're all pretty highly motivated. I have a friend who goes the conventions every year. Most people who into it have seen every B horror movie you could think of, could name minor actors no one else has even heard of, etc. There are more of us out there than you would think. And I enjoy inflicting my taste upon all of you! :P

Yea, the movie didn't really take itself seriously and I think that was the intent. It's unfortunate , though. Because that concept is very scary, and in the right hands, it could've made for one of the most disturbing horror movies in years.

A lot of people fail to realize that most horror movies are the blackest of comedies made for people with sick minds.

I concur. I think a dark sense of humor is a huge qualifier.
