Following up its successful debut season, MASTERS OF HORROR will return with 13 new hour-long films from the top names in horror.

Writers include Clive Barker (MOH 1 HAECKEL’S TALE short story), Brent Hanley (FRAILTY), Matt Venne (WHITE NOISE 2), Richard Christian Matheson (MOH 1 DANCE OF THE DEAD), Drew McWeeny & Scott Swan (MOH 1 CIGARETTE BURNS), Mick Garris (MOH 1 CHOCOLATE), Brad Anderson (SESSION 9), David Schow (MOH 1 PICK ME UP), Sam Hamm (MOH 1 HOMECOMING), Stuart Gordon & Dennis Paoli (MOH 1 DREAMS IN THE WITCH HOUSE) and R.C. Matheson (JAWS 3).

Directors John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing), Joe Dante (The Howling, Gremlins), Mick Garris (Stephen King’s Riding the Bullet & The Stand), Stuart Gordon (The Re-Animator), Tobe Hooper (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Poltergeist), John Landis (An American Werewolf in London) and Dario Argento (Suspiria) will all return for the second season of MOH. New helmers include Ernest Dickerson (BONES, DEMON KNIGHT), Brad Anderson (SESSION 9, THE MACHINIST) and Tom Holland (FRIGHT NIGHT, CHILDS PLAY).

What the hell is up with the manner in which they are releasing these dvds? Individually by episode, costing 12 bucks each?....what a shame. That Cigarette Burns episode is one of the best things John Carpenter has ever done.

I was engaged up until the end. I was expecting some kind of a twist or something.

You can get 'em for $9...but yeah. I hear the DVD presentations are absolutely fantastic though, and I wouldn't want a box-set anyway - only a few episodes are worth owning, I wouldn't pay for them all. I ordered "Chocolate" (I don't care what anyone says - it was by far the best of the series.) and plan on picking up "Cigarette Burns" at some point. And of course I'll be all over "Imprint" when it comes out...fucking Showtime.

Yeah, that wasn't directed at me, was it?

I watched it once, and due to your love of it, will give it a second chance as soon as the opportunity arises. Out of the ones they've released, I really need to get "Cigarette Burns", it was probably my favorite.

I'll take this opportunity rub Imprint in one last time. If only we lived closer..

As for the second season, sign me up. I'm really hoping that Zombie finds the time in his touring schedule to make an episode, it'd be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Haha, not really - most people give it a hard time. I think the problem is that everyone is faulting it for its lack of horror content, but if it's viewed just as it's own thing, it's fascinating fun. It seems to me that Garris just really wanted to make this, and he saw this as his opportunity.

But yeah, I would also love to see Zombie do an episode - I didn't even think about that. I wish he would just stop music all together and make us kickass horror movie after kickass horror movie.

There was a recent blabbermouth article where he was talking about trying to fit it in with the summer tour.

Rob Zombie told Launch Radio Networks that he's recently been approached to direct an episode for the second season of the Showtime series "Masters Of Horror", but that his touring commitments are getting in the way. "The timing couldn't get worse, you know," he said. "Now with touring, all the filming schedules keep coinciding with the touring schedules, so I don't know. I mean, I'm trying to fit it in, it's just really difficult. You can't exactly, like, break down for 30 days in the middle of your tour to go shoot a TV show."

Rob Zombie will launch another U.S. tour later this spring, billed as "American Witch Across America", with ANTHRAX along as support. Exact dates and cities for the trek will be announced soon. Zombie completed a North American run on Friday (May 5) in Grand Prairie, Texas, his first in support of his recently released "Educated Horses" album.

What an interesting project. The fact that they were able to get all those directors to contribute is pretty cool. Can you rent any of the DVDs off of Netflix?

Los Angeles, CA:– A stellar lineup of directors has been confirmed for the second season of Masters of Horror, the anthology series produced by IDT Entertainment in association with Industry Entertainment and Nice Guy Productions. Thirteen new one-hour films will debut this fall on Showtime. In addition, DVDs from the first season of the critically lauded series are being distributed by IDT Entertainment’s Anchor Bay Entertainment. Stars have also been announced for several episodes.

The following episodes have been confirmed:


Family, directed by John Landis and written by Brent Hanley, tells the story of a young married couple (Meredith Monroe and Matt Keeslar) that moves into a new home in a new city and finds out that their neighbor (George Wendt) is not what he seems.

Pelts, directed by Dario Argento, written by Matt Venne, adapted from F. Paul Wilson’s short-story, is an erotic tale about stolen raccoon pelts that violently turn against those that covet them in this Giallo-style adaptation of F. Paul Wilson’s short story. Meatloaf and John Saxon star.

The Damned Thing, directed by Tobe Hooper, inspired by Ambrose Bierce’s classic short-story and written by Richard Christian Matheson, is the apocalyptic tale of a monstrous force that devastates Sheriff Kevin Reddle’s family and his small Texas town. Sean Patrick Flanery, Marisa Coughlan and Ted Raimi star.

Pro-Life, directed by John Carpenter, written by Drew McWeeny & Scott Swan, tells the story of a young girl trapped inside a clinic, that discovers the only thing more dangerous than her pursuers is the demonic secret that she carries within her. Ron Perlman, and Caitlin Wachs star.

The V Word, a vampire film directed by Ernest Dickerson and written by Mick Garris, reveals the punishment visited upon two teenage boys who make the very poor decision to break into a mortuary. Michael Ironside stars.

Sounds Like, directed and written by Brad Anderson, adapted from a short-story by Mike O’Driscoll, tells the story of Larry Pearce - an ordinary man blessed with a gift of extraordinary supernatural hearing that drives him to the brink of insanity and forces him to take violent action to silence the horrific cacophony in his head.

The Screwfly Solution, directed by Joe Dante, written by Sam Hamm and adapted from the Raccoona Sheldon short-story, is about a nightmare virus infecting our nation, transforming men into psychotic killers who attack every woman that crosses their paths.

Valerie On The Stairs, directed and written by Mick Garris from a Clive Barker original screen story, tells the tale of a novelist who discovers there are fates worse than literary anonymity in this sexually-charged tale of terror.

We Scream For Ice Cream, directed by Tom Holland from David J. Schow’s adaptation of John Farris’ short-story, depicts a local ice cream man who, in this case, is turning sweet-toothed children against their parents.

The Black Cat, directed by Stuart Gordon and written by Gordon & Dennis Paoli, has the great Poe, out of ideas and short on cash, tormented by a black cat that will either destroy his life or inspire him to write one of his most famous stories

The executive producers of Masters of Horror are IDT Entertainment’s Morris Berger, Steve Brown, and John W. Hyde; Industry Entertainment’s Keith Addis and Andrew Deane, and Nice Guy Productions’ Mick Garris. Reunion Pictures’ Lisa Richardson and Tom Rowe are producers. Showtime's "Masters of Horror" has firmed up the list of guest stars for the anthology series' upcoming second season that includes such names as Jason Priestley, Elliott Gould and Christopher Lloyd. Additionally, the series has added helmers Peter Medak, Rob Schmidt, Norio Tsuruta ... Priestley and Gould star in the episode "The Screwfly Solution," about a deadly virus that transforms men into psychotic killers ... Lloyd co-stars in the episode "Valerie On the Stairs," which centers on an aspiring novelist (Tyron Leitso) who is visited by an muse-like ethereal creature with dark powers.

This season is shaping up to be pretty good. I like the addition of Brad Anderson. Ah, no Miike, what a surprise.

All the episodes sound good, with the exception of the Ice Cream one. Argento's sounds a little iffy, as well.
