"Pearl Jam released their first music video in quite a while under a Creative Commons license allowing anyone to "legally copy, distribute and share the clip" for noncommercial purposes. Creative Commons thinks this may be the first video produced by a major label ever to be CC-licensed. So although the file is only available as a free download via Google Video through May 24, fans can continue sharing it online themselves in perpetuity."

And we add another reason to the long list of reasons why I love this band so much. Very cool.

agreed
It might actually make a great thread (for someone far more ambitious than I, although I'll take copyright) - Pearl Jam Firsts. They were the first to... yada, yada, yada. Okay fine, I'll start it.
Pearl Jam was the first band to have a Hawaiian play the organ.
It's true. I looked it up.

Good for them..... when I saw that video I thought "this is so bad, they couldn't give this away". I guess they can.

Agreed. People ask me why they're my favorite band and this a fine example of why it takes me so long to answer them.
you love them because they allow their music videos to be freely distributed?
No, I'm saying it's a package deal. This is one small component that makes up the Pearl Jam Engine. This decision to provide the video to everyone free of charge and void of any third-party obligation speaks about their principles as a band, and it's those principles that I love, in addition to the music.
