Wow, Philip Seymour Hoffman gives an amazing performance in this movie. I found this film to be quite powerful. Especially, the scenes where they describe the night of the killings and when the execution takes place.

In Cold Blood is one of the best books I've ever read

I can't believe this movie isn't being distributed to wider audiences in more theatres. I saw this movie back in early November and was blown away. I saw in an artsy indie-theatre. I kept hearing about how it's up for movie of the year. Yet, two months later, it's still playing in the same old artsy movie theatre, and nowhere else.

This movie and Good Night and Good Luck were my two favorite movies of 2005.

Just saw it tonight and loved it. It gave me a whole new insight into "In Cold Blood" (one of my fav. books) and makes me appreciate it even more. It was a bit slow at parts, but a fine movie that I'm glad I saw. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I would recommend reading "In Cold Blood" or atleast seeing the 1967 movie by the same name.

Hoffman is one of the finest actors alive and I can't wait to see what role he takes on next.

Even though I find Capote's voice fucking annoying as hell I'm hoping to find time to watch this flick during the long weekend. I did get a chance to catch Good night and good luck last week and I enjoyed it. To me, the black and white format fit the film very well as did the image of burning cigarretes(sp) every scene.

Read an interesting article on Harper Lee today. I was unaware of how much assistance Capote was to Lee in the writing of To Kill a Mockingbird. I had no idea the two arthurs were childhood friends.

i always wrote it off because i saw an old guy in black and white on the cover..it didnt seem to be my type of flick..but you guys speak of killings and executions and shit..sounds intriguing

I don't know how famaliar you are with "In Cold Blood" (the nonfiction novel). It is about a family of 4 slayed in their house one night. The book follows how the town was affected and goes right up to sentencing of the criminals and their punishment.

The movie "Capote" is about Truman Capote's time of writing and researching this book. He used methods that were seen as unethical and manipulative (how much so depends on how you view the morals and professionalism of others). It also shows how the writing of his novel took such an emtional tole on him.

The movie also gives amazing insight to how Capote truly loved, well, Capote.

Its a bit slow at times, but a truly interesting movie about a truly interesting man.

See this film. It's incredibly powerful. Comparing it to Crash is a case study in how insanely inept the Academy is.

finally saw this movie. I was absolutely blown away by this movie. Hoffman is amazing as Capote. The guy who played Perry Smith is pretty good too. If you haven't seen this movie (or read "In Cold Blood"), see this movie.

ha- Hoffman. I remember seeing him on Inside the Actor's Studio, and he said something about growing up in a not very interesting city having to do with his acting or something like that-which is true- Rochester, NY and its surrounding suburbs are pretty boring.
He grew up in Fairport, NY.
