yet another reason why baseball is annoying. Anybody hear about the brewers picking up an high priced FA's? The Pirates, Royals, Padres? Oh wait, they aren't allowed to compete according to MLB rules. Maybe their whole team should just take steroids, MLB doesn't care about that either....wait...thjey do now....or maybe they don't....who cares!!!!! I'll just blindly root for my team cause i love baseball!!!!!!!!! I'll let you in on a little secret...you don't love baseball...you love the stupidity of a dumb-downed sport that doesn't give each team the same opportunity. Who cares about the moron in Milwakee rooting for his team...he doesn't matter...

Wow, another thread where Clubber bitches about steroids and bashes baseball! :
Dude, don't read the baseball threads. Start threads about chainsmoking, betting, and the glory of the NFL and stay in them. I like ya but this is really tired.

Why, because we like it?

As opposed to how cool it is that the Colts signed Marvin Harrison? Just as meaningless to me as the Brew Crew getting Lee is to you.
Clubber wrote:

Now you're just rambling. They can compete. The Padres made the World series in the late 90s, the Pirates won division titles in the early 90s and the Royals are as poorly managed as the Detroit Lions...so what?
Clubber wrote:

You're right. Every baseball player is on steroids. All of them. Every freaking one. Or maybe it's just a handful of guys, you know..just like those NFL guys who are still getting caught for taking them.
Clubber wrote:

Don't you root for your team in whatever sport rain or shine? If you don't you're a shitty fair weather fan. I grew up with baseball, many of us did.
Clubber wrote:

 I guess those dozens of minor league and HS games I go to yearly mean nothing.
Clubber wrote:

Dumbed down? What the hell does that even MEAN? Every team DOES have the same opportunity. It's not George Steinbrenners fault that some billionaire owner of the Pirates doesn't want to spend money. THe NFL has a fucking welfare system for christsakes. What's so great about the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl one year and being shit the next anyway?
Clubber wrote:

As opposed to the moron in Jacksonville or Kansas City or Seattle or insert shitty NFL franchise here..

I sense a bit of hostility...Must be a lot of "defensive" anger over the ridiculous tainting of the league you love so much..I'll get to your retorts my friend. Just relax and don't take some steroids so you can beat your Monday night bowling rival....oh wait... you probably have respect for yourself and your bowling legacy

What are you talking about? You make a thread to do nothing but bash people who started the threads that others are obviously interested in, tell us that we're blind, that we love stupidity, and that Brewers fans are morons. I then reply and you're all sensitive and touchy?? I'm sorry, but you were begging for a reply.

You've heard my opinion on this 100 times. 50% of the league juices now? Gee whiz, looks like those Triple-A guys are gonna get a shot soon after all the big leaguers are suspended!

So, your argument is that all sports need salary caps and revenue sharing? If so, start a thread saying that. Don't call people morons for liking a sport. I have enormous problems with the way that MLB operates, but do you love football because of Tagliabue's office or because the game is great to watch?

first of all, i'm glad we are PM'ing most of this. Please don't kick me off the boards cause i love the arguments and i like your posts no matter how you feel. if i called baseball fans morons i didn't really mean it. i just think they are blind and could care less about the state of the game they claim to love so much. I think i do like the way Tagliabue runs the league. It's a class act most of the time besides the tits and thwe Terrell Ownes shit. there are a lot of ticky-tac things that shoul be changed but it doesn't really affect the game at all, it's the behind the scenes shit that they deal with most of the time. Plus the game is the best to watch, it's gambler friendly, and they have some of the toughest fuckers on the planet playing it. Why would Drew henson not want to play QB and play baseball? It's because he isn't being chased by 300 pound luineman in baseball, that's the only logical reason. that's why he will never be a good QB. You have to have a killer attitude in football and very few baseball players have that attitude...and the ones that due are sketchy as far as steroids go...i'm gonna submit this post cause i've been drinking and can't give you a good retort on the thread that was unlocked...you the man anyway but wake up as far as baseball goes. i hope that it recovers and turns back to the sport i loved when i was a kid. When Dwight Gooden was ripping people up, Tony Gwynn was considered the best hitter in the game and Ozzie Smith was somebody your kid could look up to.

Did you know if your precious NFL that only 14 teams are above .500? 4 of them are a whopping 7-6.
Parity has made the NFL extremly boring.

NHL?
Well... no one has a losing record...

NBA?
Entering tonight...
5 out of 15 teams in the eastern conferance have winning records. FIVE FUCKING TEAMS.

The Point?
I dont want equal Opportunity if it means this boring dull parity that is starting to kill football and basketball.

I could not disagree more. What I find more boring is when a team blows out another team the entire game in a 58-3 blowout. The majority of games are close battles, and that's exciting.

You're welcome, Clubber.

Just because a games close... Doesnt mean its good.

Case in point. Lions Packers Yesterday.
A game can be close because 2 teams suck.

How is that boring? 18 cities stil, have a team that could make the playoffs. Philly has their best team ever, haven't wona championship since 1960, the pats are trying to win their 3rd in 4 years, the steelers are back to the glory days with a rookie QB with the best fans in the world, the Colts have the most exciting offense ever, Brett Favre is trying to win one more before he's done, Vick is the most exciting player in the league and will ahev to play his guts out in Philly to get to the promiseland......That's about as exciting as it gets. Carolina was 1-7 and can make a run at another super bowl birth. It's fucking awesome...and your star players aren't taking steroids...Brady???? cmon, Manning..no way....owens..maybe...but that just ghives us reason to root against him...this season is the great...please try again

You've got to be kidding me. The last half of that game was filled with excitement. Brett Favre was a big reason for that. Granted, he looked like shit at first, but the entire game was not boring.

well, it's kind of strange that you started it at all, but mostly i was referring to the fact that you and eric had multiple discussions going on at once. Also, those discussions eventually merged, which made it even stranger.

Give me a break clubber, that number is probably higher in football.

one area in which baseball is FAR superior to football:

after a guy hits a home run, you don't have to check the field for yellow flags.
