Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know about a new article on TwoFeetThick.com about the PJ's first CHristmas SIngle "Let Me Sleep" - http://www.twofeetthick.com/articleread.do?id=63

As a fan since 1991, i forget that there are a lot of younger fans or new fans that know a lot about the early days of PJ, but not the early days of being in the Ten Club. In 1991, i was in college and my dad called to tell me he got a "record in the mail with a rhinoceros on it" and if i knew what it was. well, i knew i hadn't ordered anything but i told him to hang on to it. when i got home, i saw the small "Pearl Jam" on the back of the sleeve but i was still like "did i order this?!?!?". Only after listening to "Ramblings" did it sink in, and the sincerity of that message and the tenderness of "let me sleep" really hooked me as a PJ fan. Hope you enjoy the article! -JR

Any ordinary Joe can go to a record store or go online and buy one of Pearl Jam's albums. But if your fandom goes a little deeper, you have probably joined the Ten Club and discovered the joy that is Pearl Jam's tradition of sending fan-club-only vinyl with unreleased material around holiday time. PJ's first Fan Club single delivers a tender yet somber Christmas reflection on Side A, "Let Me Sleep (Christmas Time)", and a genuinely heartfelt audio letter to their fans on Side B, "Ramblings".

It's still a very reasonable price:

so they actually tried to blow speakers up, the bass tremor on Sometimes shredded my old but incredible system one day. as a brief aside, that same note blew the eardrums of my gold fish, a gruesome day.

Oh yes. You could tell by the description the person didnt know what they had. The description just said "pearl jam 7." This was probably 2 years ago.

Wow, a lucky find to say the least!
Wish I had that kind of luck. The closest I've come was snatching up the Bushleaguer 7" for $4.99 on Ebay when it first came out.

Was there a time when the single came in the mail before Christmas? Or rather, when the day it came in was closer to Christmas than Easter?

Its the only one I don't have. And I keep telling myself that I won't pay $100+ for it. But I said that about the basketball picture disc aswell.

I found mine in a bin of R&B singles for $8. The kid at the desk commented that it was obviously mismarked, but didn't give a shit and sold it to me anyhow.

in the little anecdote i told up above, i *believe* it arrived during finals in Dec 1991, and i got home just a few days before christmas that year to actually see it.

the others were pretty close to december, but i was a college student then, so didn'thave to go back to school until mid-january. in a scary packrat way, i used to keep all my envelopes, but unfortunately i trashed them all in the last few years.

i'm sure down the road we're going to go through all the xmas singles. they all have interesting tales.

Hey! Thanks so much! Unfortunately, I do not own the first xmas single and never knew the story behind the ramblings. I have the complete acoustic from 94 and that's where I first heard the ramblings. I never knew this was on the first xmas single. AWESOME. I learn something new everyday.
