Hi, i wrote an article on how to download, play and burn FLAC easily for those on the fence about whether to stick with MP3 or go to FLAC.

FLAC It! Simple Steps to Sweet PJ Audio
http://www.twofeetthick.com/articleread.do?id=242
In this article, TwoFeetThick.com will try to demystify the FLAC file and show you in easy-to-follow steps with screenshots of the actual programs for how to enjoy Pearl Jam's live music in all its uncompressed glory.

mods: i know this is related to PJ Live, but thinking newbies would most often read posts here. thanks

Enjoy!

I'm computer savvy but never bothered to get into downloading, burning CD's, etc. Never had the desire or need to.

I just want a CD that I can pop in my car and it seems archaic going through these steps to get a CD. And for $15, all's I get is a FLAC file. I don't have a CD burner nor do I have the software to convert the file to a regular CD. I'm sorry, for $15 bucks each, $30 total, I should be able to order my 2 Boston 06 CD's and get them in the mail within 2 weeks, simply packaged with a sleeve and setlist sticker.

If I'm going to do this work, I shouldn't have to pay more than $7 IMO for each show. I usually just buy the boots for the shows I go to and an occasional special show. I'm really dissapointed on this issue. I think the band has let me down a bit for the 1st time ever. I have all the official boots for the shows I have been to in 2000 and 2003. None for 2006. If I'm correct there were no boots available in any format for the 04 Boston VFC shows.

JR, this should be posted in the Basecamp thread over at Synergy (if it hasn't been done so already).

Not sure if this helps, but I downloaded the Yahoo Music Engine for free and it supports flac files. Save yourself $79.99.

... there's one thing that is not mentioned in the article JR .. and that's how people can covert their Flac's to Wav's ... only if they can't get Nero or any other burning software that supports the burn of flac > audio cd direct.

Flac Frontened does the job. http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm

*edit. didn't read the Advanced FLAC part. D'oh!

You might want to mention what directory the Flac plugin goes in for the different versions of Nero.

yeah, thought it'd have to do that but it came installed on nero 7. probably worth a sidebar on other versions. thanks,
