Man the vocals are really turned low on these... hadn't listened to one in awhile... compared to the 03 boots you can hardly hear Ed

To me Ed sounds totally different on the 2000 compared to the 2003

i liked the 2000 euro boots cause they were so Drum heavy, something missing in just about every Pearl Jam live release since NA 2000 (Touring Band drums aren't bad, Live at the Garden drum sound sucks, you can barely hear the toms)

It's mainly the 2nd NA leg where his vocals sound so distant. I really love the Fresno show, but that's one where he sounds particularly buried in the mix. It's funny, too, considering how the same recording process was used for both sets of '00 NA boots. The '00 European boots sound awesome, though.

i was listening to some 2000 us boots the other day and the thing i noticed is that ed's voice in every song sounded so depressing and melancholic..

has anyone else noticed it or is it just me?

I am not a big fan of the 2000 boots and Ed's voice is a big reason why. I like it much better in 03 and especially 05 and 06.

Get a copy of the Bootleg+Schoeps version. It sounds MUCH better.

Ed has never sounded better than in 2000. In 2003 he sounded average, and he's sounded a good these last few tours, but 2000 was amazing. He had the perfect combination where he could scream and then hit the notes he had to.

I can agree on some shows. I was lucky enough to land a trade for all the 2000-2003 shows and while I have not gotten any 2003 shows yet to compare I do notice this on the 2000 shows.

listening to the 2000 boots you'd think that jeff was off sick for the whole tour.

I just never really felt much from him though. I didnt' like the shows I saw that tour (jones beach I+II, camden II) so maybe that's part of the reason
