I usually post at the Porch, but I'm afraid she might read my posts. Anyway, my gf is turning 21 next Friday and I wanted to do something special for her. We've been together for about 8 months, but are fairly serious I guess. I've got a summer internship in another city about 150 miles from where she is, so we haven't gotten to see each other too often this past month. She's working next Friday, on her birthday, til 5 pm, and is expecting me to come into town a little after that.
I've already bought her a necklace and all of the Pearl Jam studio CDs (how romantic! haha)... but was looking for ideas on something I could do to surprise her on her Birthday. I can get into town a lot earlier than 5, and she'll be tied up until then... and I can probably get into her apartment (assuming her roommates are home) before then.
So.................... anybody got some brilliant advice they'd be willing to share??
Thanks in advance.... and fuck you all if no one responds

This was my first thought as well.

The single most annoying item related to the Internet is the phrase "Please help." Add all capitals or an exclamation point, and you've successfully given everyone reading the phrase a desire to shoot themselves in the face.

what are little things that you've noticed she likes? does she always mention how she loves kittens or a certain candy or something? find a way to remember some little detail like that and blow it up. taking pictures of you two that you have and making a collage or even just taking a pic she really really loves of you two that she may have in her room and getting a really nice frame for it is always good. they love that shit.
oh yea, and fuck her roommates so they can brag how good you are.

I can get away with getting my wife flowers and a nice dinner out. I advise you not to go overboard if you are serious with her. If you set yourself up as a hardcore romantic ,you have not much to work up to in the future. However if you start out being a little bit of a dumbass about things, it really gives you an advantage you will never see again. Example: When I was "dating" my wife, I may have treated her McDonalds for her birthday. Now days she is perfectly happy with flowers and a casual dinner out. I don't have to spend an expodential ammount to make her enjoy her birthday. These same tactics can be applied to other occasions and holidays. You can also apply the same dumbass techniques to household chores when or if you live together. " I don't know how to do laundry" "Everytime I do dishes they don't get as clean as when you do them" "I'll just be outside working on the yard."

This guy's smart. If you plan on being with this girl a while start at MacD's for her birthday, and then maybe for your 1 year spoil her and take her to IHOP!!
Ummmmm, as for romantic ideas, try taking her out somewhere for a beach fire (if you live by the beach) and just get take out from a nice asian restaurant. If you're not near a beach a lake works too. And if you're not into the whole fire idea, a few blankets work, too. Something about being near the water = romance for girls. So yeah, good luck with that and I hope you get some, from her, her sister or her roomates, for being so thoughtful.
