what a fantastic movie.

ray allen does a really good job as the star of the movie. spike lee does a helluva job with him. there's so much going on with him and it's handled so well.

denzel in a different role. the music...fantastic.

gotta be one of the better music scores of, at least, all sports movies of all time.

I was thinking the same exact thing.

Yeah, Jesus basically acts the same way I would if my dad popped out of nowhere and all of a sudden wanted to know how I was doing. (My parents have been separated since I was 18 months, Mom has full custody and I haven't seen my dad since. My dad's been in and out of jail since 1988 so like, he's not exactly killed anyone like Denzel's character did but yeah, not the cleanest record either so yeah.) So I can relate to his character.

 I knew what you meant, but felt the extreme need to break your balls a little bit. Sorry.

For the record, I think this movie sucked. Racist and pretentious.

You could say that about pretty much any other Spike Lee movie.

True. Lee is a talented director, but he's a racist asshole with an agenda. Sometimes said agenda is discreet, and other times it's in the forefront. He Got Game is an example of the latter.

I wouldn't even go so far as to call him a talented director. The only film of his I've liked has been 25th Hour, and that's more to do with Norton's performance and the script. And even if I liked his other films, I'd never forgive him for the travesty that is Summer of Sam. I paid 6 bucks to see that goddamn movie back in the day.

25th Hour is probably my favorite movie of his as well. But I have to give credit where credit it due: his direction was excellent. The script was great, granted, but the performances were all spot-on and the movie flowed very well. I remember reading something about the movie when it came out how Norton and Lee clashed over a bunch of issues within the movie (Norton did the same thing during American History X). I always wondered what Norton had problems with and what changes he wanted made.

Yeah, that would be a good read to someday see what Norton wanted changed in those films, maybe he wanted a couple action scenes thrown in, like Tom Cruise or something. Norton hasn't been in a movie in awhile has he?

I enjoyed He Got Game to an extent, thought it dragged in some parts and I didn't pick up on the racist undertones, but it has been awhile since I saw the movie.

Very true.

This has one of the best opening credits sequences of any movie ever made though, the Aaron Copeland music is fantastic.

I liked the direction, liked the score, hated the movie.

I always wondered if they let him out of jail sometime at the end. Jesus could have bitched or threatened to transfer schools or something, they had a fuckin deal man.
