well? what level/ section of a video game has pissed you off to the point of cursing out loud, screaming, throwing controllers, and other such rage-induced activities?

for me... its the water temple in zelda: ocarina of time. i mean, what the fuck??? theres is no fucking way out of there unless you have a guide. and even then its tricky.

and dont talk about contra. yeah, we know. contra was hard back in the day. but we all beat it in the end.

Definitely-- it took my five fuckin years before I ever beat Mike and I was jumping all over the place like a spaz when I did-- hell, I didn't even TKO him until 1999. The password for getting to Mike is permanently etched in my memory- 007-363-5963.

As for hardest level, I would say that ANY level of Ghosts and Goblins is hard enough to qualify for the hardest level of any other game.

funny, teh part about being etched in your memory... i remember the game genie codes i used to use for super mario 3...

slxplovs
ypxxlvge
nxkxglie

im not sure which one did what, but they were.. infinite lives, always be raccoon mario, and keep items from the menu after using them (like that p wing that made you fly)

in fact, when you input a letter from the codes, each one had its own sound, and i remember the sound of each code all the way through.

I'll third that comment. I think my problem was I was playing it on the PC and I had no controller; doing it with the keyboard was effing impossible.

When I was little, I was known as the kid who could beat that game from start to finish without using any passwords. I was a hero.

Let me add, for the record, that no one should be mentioning a game released after 1990.

that part in the original metroid where you come to a dead end and can't do anything else.

I could never beat the final world in Super Mario Bros. 3. That was such a pain in the ass.

Um...SMB3 was not hard at all. I beat the last level on the SNES version after 10 years of no Super Mario.

This thread is GREAT!

Zelda 64: Water level = WTF! Totally agree here.
Contra = I was a child prodigy. I beat the game without losing a single life.
GTA: SA = hardest mission ever was the remote controlled airplane mission in San Fiero. I still cannot beat it.

Mega Man 2 = MOTHER FUCKING QUICK MAN!! FUCKING CHEATING BASTARD!
Twisted Metal Black = overall very difficult game
TMNT for NES = the whole game past Wallstreet

Water Temple was a fucking bitch to play, my God. I tried so hard without a walkthrough, but kept getting lost. Finally, I caved in and did it with the walkthrough.

For the longest time, I could never beat World 8 in Super Mario 3. Finally, last year, I did it. And it was most excellent.
