It seems you just dont get it.
When i meet someone new i always try and get them in to pearl jam, have you tried this? Its fucking well hard especially when theyve never heard them.
What makes it worse is that they always get described as 'mediocre' or 'middle of the road' shite!!!
Am i doing something wrong, i always recomend songs that i think are accesible, 'black' 'alive' 'betterman' given to fly etc. But ive never had much luck.

I'm with you man. I've tried and rarely succeeded in turning people. I can only conlude that they are idiots I recently tried to convince a guy at work that pearl jam is far superior to bachman turner overdrive....I failed. It's not even a matter of opinion. BTO sucks. Have you ever listened to taking care of business? It'll make you want to jam icepicks into your ears.

haha....Takin Care of Business is fun and they have a couple of other good party songs, but yes...they suck. I'm sure a vast majority of music enthusiasts would agree that comparing BTO to PJ is an absurdity.

i often wondered what it would be like to discover Pearl Jam. to have all these great albums to listen to at once would be overwhelming.
I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Most people with mainstream tastes won't like PJ if they don't like Black, Alive etc.
If people describe them as MOR maybe the less listener friendly stuff would be best.
The thing is when vitolagy came out i went right off PJ. I was young and stupid though I then purchased a live in scotland bootleg just out of curiosity, to see what PJ were up to now. I got addicted and i had to buy every album from binural down to giving vitolagy another try. I'm so glad i purchased that boot.
Oh yeah vitolagy is now my favourite album

i guess when you were put off by Vitalogy you were only doing what 90% of the 'PJ fans' did at the time.

I think now that PJ is not in being crazy played all over the radio/tv/etc...the niche their music makes isn't found on today's young people.
I try to bring easily accessible CDs to work (cook at pub & grill), so I often bring Ten or Vs. There are a couple of 17 year olds that just don't get it. They think Ed's grunts and wailing are silly and actually think it's just not heavy enough. It's hard to argue sometimes because you either like this brand of rock or you don't.

Too true, i'm one of the lucky ones though. When you were just trying to listen to binural i had, yield, no code and vitolagy to listen to for the first time
