Has anybody heard of him? I heard traces of him and some of this NPR concert and he was pretty decent. But anybody else listen to him heavily?

i know he opens for bright eyes, but he doesn't suck like that.

M Ward is cool. I actually think Bright Eyes have been better than him, of late, but that's just opinion. Transfiguration of Vincent is a great, great record.

If you get a chance to see this guy at all, take it. He plays guitar so uniquely and get's some of the best sounds out of it. His voice is easier to hear live than on record imo because you really get the bluesy background vibe live. O' Brian's Nocturne is my favorite song.

Matt's new record, Post-War, which comes out August 22nd, has leaked, and it's easily the best record i've heard all year, and very likely Matt's best record yet. it's certaintly his most consistant and easily beats the last one, as good as it was. Transfiguration of Vincent used to be my fave, but i think the tides may have changed.

the album features Neko Case on 1 track and Jim James on another

i posted the title cut on my blog for those that wanna check it out

thanks for the update, i've been anxious to hear this album.

m.ward is a weird artist for me, i got transfiguration of vincent and transistor radio and i like both to a degree. i can't describe him in anyway, but his sound is so attractive. so many short songs that feel like one mess with a beautiful grainy voice.

Excellent, I'm going to have to download it. I'm a big M Ward fan, Transistor Radio is probably one of the best albums I've heard in the past couple of years.

from Merge Records (CD due out 07/10)...

M. Ward - Duet for Guitars #2

This is M. Ward's first record, originally released by Co-Dependent Records in 1999, then re-released in 2000 by M's friend Howe Gelb (Giant Sand) on his Ow-Om label. It has been out of print ever since. Now Merge is offering this re-mastered version with three bonus tracks.

1. Duet For Guitars #2
2. Beautiful Car
3. Fishing Boat Song
4. Scene From #12
5. Good News
6. Crooked Spine, The
7. Look Me Over
8. Who May Be Lazy
9. It Won't Happen Twice
10. He Asked Me To Be A Snake And Live Underground
11. Song From Debby's Stairs
12. It Was A Beautiful Car
13. Were You There?
14. Not A Gang
15. Duet For Guitars #1

This is streaming on Merge's site. Jealous Butcher is releasing the vinyl version, along with Transfiguration of Vincent, but those dates are still kinda up in the air. I sent them an email, but received no reply yet. Enjoy!

*edit* - just found out that http://www.acousticsounds.com is offering a pre-order of vinyl for $13.99 (coming 07/10 as well)

M. Ward is one of my absolute favorite artists post '00, easily top 5...

get Post-War, followed by Transfiguration of Vincent, End of Amnesia, Duet for Guitars #2, and Transistor Radio

can't wait to get Duet on vinyl w/ the bonus tracks!

Post-War really made me love me. His earlier stuff had me on the fence. He had Neko Case on the new record though and I can't resist anything she's touched.

I missed him when he came through.
How was the show? When was this?
Bright Eyes is on my list of future shows, hopefully.
