i love the nutcracker suite.
every christmas when i was little, i'd watch the nutcracker ballet on tv and i'd dance along with the ballarinas. that was when i was convinced i'd grow up to be a dancer.
i also love playing it. i've often played it in band, and one year, we did a percussion ensamble version of "dance of the sugar plum fairies."
makes me feel christmasy, more than anything else.

easily one of my favorite christmas memories. my sister danced in the nutcracker every year. i heard some of the suite yesterday and realized how much i grew up liking it.

I have heard it a bit too much, but familiarity isn't always a bad thing, especially around Christmas. In addition to listening to it, I also loved playing it every year (tempted to actually leave the computer and play it now, as a matter of fact!), and I have a lot of fond memories connected with it.
It's neither my favorite Christmas music nor my favorite classical music, but it's up there somewhere.
[...and I wonder just how many former band/orchestra nerds are on the board. ]

I never played in the band or orchestra, but the nerds are those who dont appreciate classical music.

I quite agree and didn't mean to imply otherwise. That's just usually what they called us.
