Description: Homer discovers that his children find him uncool. To prove them wrong he buys tickets to the Hullabalooza festival for himself, Bart, and Lisa. At the festival, Homer unsuccessfully tries to blend in, but when a projectile pig prop is fired into his gut, he receives the attention of everybody and is asked to join the Hullabalooza freak show. Homer's stomach weakens after one too many canonballs to the stomach, and a vetinarian warns him that he will die if it happens again. But the next big show is in Springfield, and Homer wants to be cool in front of everybody including those that didn't like him in high school. When the "final" cannon is fired, Homer steps aside at the last minute realizing his life and family mean more to him than being an icon.
I think this episode is great, mainly for the appearances of Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Peter Frampton & Cypress Hill.
Favorite quote from the episode...
Homer: Good concert, am I right?
Teen1: Yeah, nice try, narc.
Teen2: Where's a narc?
Teen3: Who?
Teen1: That fat Jamaican guy.
Homer: What did I say? What's going on?
Teen4: Hey, we're just trying to have a good time, narc. Why do you want to destroy us?
Teen5: Don't commit your hate crimes here. HATE CRIME!
Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa are at the concert listening to Smashing Pumpkins, where the crowd is dancing in sort sort of nostalgic trance.
Lisa: It may be bleak, but this music is really getting to the crowd.
Bart: Eh, making teenagers depressed is like shooting fish in a barrel.

"Who is playing with the London Symphony Orchestra? Come on people,
somebody ordered the London Symphony Orchestra... posssibly while high. I'm looking at you, Cypress Hill."
Gordon: Hey, Hullabalooza isn't about freaks; it's about music, and
advertisement, and youth-oriented product positioning.
Sen-Dog: That, and getting toasted. Nicely toasted.
Dear parents. Due to yesterday's unscheduled field trip to the auto

Bart: So, what's it like being famous, dad?
Homer: People know your name, but you don't know theirs. It's great.
Homer: I'll miss you, Pumpkins, but I just can't share your bleak world view. I've got too much to live for.
Corgan: We envy you, Homer. All we have is our music, our legions of fans, our million of dollars and our youth. [pause] Woo-Hoo!
Iha: Let's all go out and buy fur coats!
Chamberlin: I want a walk-in humidor.

Sometimes when they overload an episode with guest stars, it kind of deters from the episode quality. Not the case with this one. I liked Peter Frampton because he kept getting fucked with, haha. The guest stars are much better when they aren't acting like themselves. For example, whenever Leonard Nimoy is on, he is weird and hysterical.
The episode has a funny plot, and it is one of the earlier ones to show Homer's God awful taste in music. I mean...who can seriously name every member of Grand Funk Railroad? Haha.
If you enjoy this episode, then you need to get your hands on the season 7 DVD, beacuse this is probably one of the lesser eps of that season.
